Supporting both Li and FLAs from one charger

Take a look at this. Desulfator chargers do spike the voltage. I would hope that your charger does this to your lead acid batteries or you are not getting the full life potential. https://carbatterygeek.co.uk/battery-reconditioning-desulfation-conditioner-charger-desulfator-car/

Supporting both Li and FLAs from one charger

One of the main reasons not to use a modern smart charger on Lion that isn't made for Lion is because it may spike the voltage once in a while to clean the plates. With Lion you do not want that spike.

Shortest trawler with a walk-around queen AND a pilothouse?

Nt37 3000 would be barely broke in. At least 6000, time is always a factor and care. If it sat for a long time in a corrosive environment would not help. But as of date its using about 1/2 quart in 50 hours. If used regularly they will make 10,000+

    Remote Switch for Block Heaters

I use a KASA plug to remotely turn on my block heater about 2 hours before I get to our boat with a cummins 6bta. I've been doing this for 1 season and I like it a lot better than the inlet air heater that I disabled. The plug works off wifi and a app.

    Flir

After the end of the boating season I purchased an AGM Tiapan TM15-256. I wanted something dual purposed. Hand held and able to mount. With the app you can view it on your phone or tablet via WiFi. I plan on mounting it on the boat and using WiFi because it doesn't work through glass. It is...

Boat names that just have to be shared.

I saw a boat in Bermuda while walking around named "Fugly" It was, and I was rolling around laughing.

    Extending bow roller

I would like to get a different anchor because I have found that the claw doesn’t set great in the southern part of Lake Michigan. At least not on my previous boat. I currently have a 44lb claw and would like to move to a s100 spade. My problem is that the spade has a longer shank and will not...

    Starting a diesel

Thanks, This has been the best guidance I have heard yet. I heard of the dont crank it too long because of the water issue but never could get a time limit. I didn't know if it was 5 seconds or 5 minutes. The preheater explanation was very good also. I was told to turn the key and wait for the...

    Starting a diesel

I would like to thank all of you for your reply. I called Nordic tugs as suggested in one of the posts and they said that it is BS that there exhaust will fill with too much water if cranked for a long time. Maybe others would have a problem. It kind of makes sense because the air coming out...

    Starting a diesel

Hi, We have a relatively new to me Nordic tugs 37 with a cummins 6BTA and I know that you should not crank the starter for very long so that water doesn't back up into the turbocharger and cylinders. My question is what is too long and how long do you have to wait after before reattempting? A...

Running on 1 engine for fuel savings?

Running on 1 I'm planning on running on one engine for this whole summer. That is, except for when my generator is on. :D

    Chain life in fresh water

I currently have 5/16 bbb. I didn't think that the g43 would work on the same windlass.

    Chain life in fresh water

How about 3 strand or double braided attached to the chain I know double braided lays down better in the locker but the windlass doesn't grip it as well.

    Chain life in fresh water

I’m assuming so. I guess the question might also be how well the chain locker is ventilated. For that I guess I could open the locker from the cabin. A second question is how well the chain connector links go through a windless because it sounds like they like to send 5/16 in 92’ buckets and...

    Chain life in fresh water

Hi, The new to me Nordic tugs 37 has 150’ of 5/16 rusty chain. It is not rusted solid in the locker but it is ugly. My question is, how long does galvanized chain last in fresh water before it gets rusty? I’m tempted to get stainless but then I might reduce the length a bit to save $ and...

    Nordic tugs 37 prop choice

Has anyone tried the Michigan wheel DQX on the Nordic tugs? With othe boats i have heard that it has an impressive increase in performance.

    Nordic tugs 37 prop choice

Firehoser75, Did your wot speed go up or stay the same after you took 2 inches out of the prop? Just curious. I know its better for the engine. Thanks

    Nordic tugs 37 prop choice

What were the results of reducing your prop pitch? This is something I am also interested in. When the boat has full fuel and water it is about 200 rpms low and slow.

    Nordic tugs 37 prop choice

Hi, I just recently purchased a NT37 that doesn't have a spare prop. I figured I might get a new prop and keep the old one as a spare. The boat has a 330 hp cummins engine. It came with a 28" x 24 michigan wheel prop. As I look at props I have been considering a dyna quad and DQX. The DQX is a...

    Nordic tugs 37 wet keel?

Thanks for the reply, It was from a guy that I spoke to who has been maintaining a NT42. It seemed a little odd. And when I just looked at a NT 37 that I am about to buy I had it hauled out and didn't notice a bunch of water coming out. I was wondering if the hole into the wet keal was...

    Nordic tugs 37 wet keel?

Does the Nordic tugs 37 have a wet keel? Just curious because I thought I heard that somewhere. If it does I would think when pulling it out of the water it would drain for a while.
