    44 Tolly repower

Thank you for the responses. Right now, we are probably 90% trawler speeds with the occasional run up. I also have the minor fear in the back of my head of keeping them low and slow to avoid the problems 8.2’s can have. Ours don’t exhibit any of those symptoms. However, if the opportunity...

    44 Tolly repower

Thank you both. Tiltrider-agree on cost to rebuild vs replace. What I am worried about is; heaven forbid I blow one of these 8.2s, but I think that ithe engine has to come out to rebuild. Then the adage of ‘do one do both, plays in my head because you’ve already shelled out $$$ for the...

    44 Tolly repower

Our ‘88 44’ Tolly has the DD 8.2s. Contemplating or more out of curiousity wondering about a repower. I am aware of their history and the opinions of them. At this particular point, we are in a better position to repower than if the engines implode years down the line. Our 8.2s have...

    48 Catalina opinions

We ended up with a 44 Tollycraft and couldn’t be happier. I still love the lines in of the Catalina but the one mentioned in the first post just wasn’t for us.

    Outback Inverter question

Thanks Jeff. I’m starting to price out replacement Telecoms in the event that’s the next step.

    Outback Inverter question

Twisted Tree,-good question. That gauge would show 12.5-6 unplugged from shore power with nothing on the panel(s) drawing. Turn on coffee and the voltage would drop 2+ volts like maybe even down to 9.9. Then gfi would kick off.

    Outback Inverter question

Deep diving and I may have a solid clue…my batteries are Meridian Marine which are now Northstar. I am thinking my batts are older than led to believe. I am merely ballparking but based on that info, possibly 10 yrs +old. I understand Telecom batts have.a longer life than golf cart batts so...

    Outback Inverter question

Low voltage setting. Hmmm. Will take a look. Altogether possible the PO’s set it. Thanks for the suggestion

    Outback Inverter question

Our relatively 'new' to us boat has an Outback inverter (unk size as manual does not specify) and 4 telecom batteries. I should add, there are 4 solar panels on the aft deck hardtop. Oddly enough, when on anchor and inverter on, coffee pot will kick the GFI within a minute or two of startup...

    Faria gauges

1988 Tollycraft 44 with twin 8.2 Detroits Our boat went in the water today after sitting on 'the hard' for 4 months. We just found a new marina and excited to be back floating. I have Faria temp gauges on flybridge. Faria temp gauge on port engine at lower station and stock temp gauge on...

    Maxwell/Nilsson Windlass Model?

I did my homework, research, phone calls and emails. I could not locate a 'new' gypsy for my windlass. I knew exactly the model number I did need so my inquiries could remain brief or at least to work off the info my contacts provided. Anyhow, last ditch effort; I'll check ebay. Found one...

    Maxwell/Nilsson Windlass Model?

I have struck out. Email to Nilsson and phone call to Maxwell. Both indicate that because my windlass is old (1988), chain wheel isn't something they carry. My windlass works fine. It's the chain wheel that is the problem. I did find out the windlass is a VWC700 and I need a 105 wheel...

    Gypsy for Maxwell Nilsson

So...phone call to Maxwell, email to Nilsson and both do not have a chain wheel for my apparent old windlass. Are chain wheels interchangeable between windlass manufacturers as long as the shaft is same diameter? I don't want to buy a new windlass when mine still works but chain wheel is not...

    Gypsy for Maxwell Nilsson

Tator I really appreciate your effort! I’ve heard good things too about Ideal. I’m afraid the ‘not wanting to’ part of me doesn’t want to pull out a good windlass until I have exhausted all efforts in sourcing a new chain wheel. Thank you again and have a great weekend!
