    Anchor locker

Thanks for the help! I do have a HUGE amount of space directly below the locker at the forward end of the v berth. Extending the tube to there looks quite doable. Not sure why obvious was so elusive …. Thanks again!

    Anchor locker

I have a 1980 Albin 36. Has an electric windless that drops 100’ of chain directly below into a bow locker accessible only from the forward cabin. The problem is only about 60-70 ft feed in and then it piles so high it backs up. The locker is too small and 100 ft isn’t nearly enough...

    Monterey Bay (CA) advice

MB The swell is directionally consistent. Summertime more wind waves and winter dependent on the systems moving thru. Can be foggy in the summer. Calm water Santa Cruz and Capitola anchorages. ( if you drop the hook, watch out for the very occasional south swell) Not to many days a year you...

    Bow Heavy

The fly bridge does slope forward. And when I hauled out last spring, I studied the waterline /moulded hull lines. Waterline certainly looks like it’s correct. I’ll move the chain and play with the weight but with 300 gallons of water ( 2400 lbs ) In the stern tanks I probably have my...

    Bow Heavy

1980 Albin 36’ single engine with 4 kw gen forward of the engine Fuel tanks each side 300 gallons water in stern laz. Even with empty fuel and water tanks full bowsits 6” low. 100’ 3/8” chain in bow I can only conclude it was built that way but am not willing to accept that...

    Hydraulic Autopilot

Technically, above my pay grade. I would say go to the local marine electronics supplier , maybe a couple. Ask. My gut says , all new on the autopilot. Or maybe call Furuno (360) 834-9300 ask for their tech guy. Stay cool, best of luck.

    Hydraulic Autopilot

Damn. Took a year. After getting the 5 k install price , decided to do it myself. Earned every last dime…….. I did the sea trial today! Done! Awesome stuff. Went all Furuno ( see below ) Can’t say enough about their tech support. Called 3 different times and each time they quickly put...

    Trolling Bag for Trawler

Trawl speed We have a 3 k min and just add a little more weight on the ball. select spoons and jigs that handle the speed. Longer leaders say 10-20’ helps with presentation That being said , depth is not you friend. I did drag a sock once, no fun

    Hydraulic Autopilot

Thank you all. Rudder indicator sounds helpful. Our wheel is 5 turns lock to lock and Rudder position has its challenges occasionally. I’ll crawl and check out to ram Capacity too.

    Hydraulic Autopilot

I’m going to install an autopilot in our single engine Albin36 and was looking at all the choices. Gets confusing. Just want something simple , reliable and able to follow some waypoints. Like the Ford leahman, just goes, something that just works good Dont think it needs to interact...
