    Suggestions needed for removal

Make your own slide hammer. Long threaded rod through the tube. Nut and washer inside same diameter as tube make sure it’s a thick washer . Make hammer slide on aft end of the shaft and beat like hell from out side. Saw a guy do that on a sail boat.

    Water in bilge

Think I’m dry there I’ve checked the new pss shaft seal several times. Nothing there that was noticeable but I will look into the water tanks. Seems a possibility of a leak or the wife uses a massive amount of water doing dishes. I’ll peak at your other post and see if I have an idea.

    Water in bilge

What’s an acceptable amount of water in your bilge? My boating experience tells me that there are some dry boats some wet boats. This is my first trawler a 34 double cabin. I do have a dripless PSS shaft seal that is dry just rebuilt it honestly. But in the bilge infront of the engine I get...

    Boat manufacturer?

I bought a 34 CHB looks like marine trader but sold as CHB. Getting my vessel undocumented has been anything but joy. Finally get that done go to the title agency for title and registration. The first 3 digits of my HIN are BAY************. Which comes up as a Baybuilt. Anyone else ever have...

    Shaft removal 34 DC

Psneeld: I can get the threads through the rudder but where the taper starts is where the shaft stops. The hole dia is large enough just the angle of the dangle don’t line up.

    Shaft removal 34 DC

I’m rebuilding the PSS dripless, I have the everything loose flange removed from shaft, all dripless items loose, prop off, cutlass flange off and new cutlass on its way. Problem is I can’t get the shaft out, I was told that the shaft would go through the “hole” in the rudder but it doesn’t! Do...

Holding tank vent smell and aeration

previous owner of my boat installed a simple little aquarium airpump into the top of the tank. he said if the tank starts to smell any just plug that little bugger in for an hour or two and then unplug it (120v). Sure as Sh*t it must apply just enough positive pressure to vent out the tank and...

    Build quality

Thank you Psneeld! That was my thoughts also. I honestly am new to trawlers, experienced power boater but new too trawlers and was wondering if there was some magical quality I wasn’t aware of.

    Build quality

So for the most part many of the trawlers from the 1970-1990s look nearly identical too me. But there’s a vastly different price range between makes. Which still look pretty darn similar inside and out with obvious subtle changes. The common answer is “build quality”. So what exactly is...

    Chinese diesel heater

I just bought a all in one heater tank and heater. My boat has a heat/Ac unit in it but it sure does me no good when the boat is on the hard. This winter i plan on doing some boat repairs so i did a temporary install that half resembles a nasa scene and some well rigged scene. The boat is...

    Battery box or not?

thank you all for your input. After getting new batteries and actually getting them to the boat i realized that theres really no extra space to do anything different than whats there which is a 3/4in plywood box to contain all the batteries. with a lid thats clamped to the box. sure isnt enough...

    Battery box or not?

Who is using battery boxes for their house battery bank? If you are what are you using? Start batteries are pretty easy but there are typically far more batteries in a house bank than start batteries. Back story: New to me boat had a wooden box for the 4) 6v house batteries that was built...
