    Water maker question

Personally, I would go on line to their website and download their operating manual. And follow the manufacturer instructions for putting it back in service after a pickling. Whether it has been pickled or not. Then run it for say an hour to overboard before testing and putting in the water tank.

Exploring the Sea of Cortez in our 4788 Bayliner

That's cool Kevin! We regretted that the North winds preventing us from exploring up the SOC while we were there. Now that we've made it to our new dock (house) in Florida, we'll probably not get to the SOC again, at least not in our own boat. Hope Vicki is keeping you in line. Give her a...

Ken, LOL! Unfortunately for you, it is in central Florida, fresh water, but a day's + travel either East or West to get to the either of the large lakes of bitter water . . .

    Wanted: Ford Lehman 120 manifold

Bomar cleaned up the one they had, and decided it wasn't serviceable after all, but they found another one that, although marginal, should be okay for awhile . . . . American Diesel said they have an order in to have at least 100 brand new ones made from scratch, but they are at least 1 year...

    Wanted: Ford Lehman 120 manifold

We've tried American Diesel. No luck. Bomar has one that is "usable, but really ugly, will probably last 3 to 5 years" is what he said. The head he took off is damaged as stated above, and has been hela-coiled (badly). He can't find anyone in the area who is willing to try welding it . . ...

    Please explain purchasing a slip

This is what we recently did. We purchased a dock that had a house associated with it. Actually, we got 3 small docks, suitable for 35' boats, and one long, 175' linear dock with 6' of water. The house . . . well, it needs work, which we are in the process of doing, which is cutting into our...

San Andres and Isla de Providencia

We transited from San Blas Islands, Panama to Fort Myers, Florida last month, arriving in Florida on 25 April. We had originally planned on stopping in either San Andreas, or Providencia, but after hearing reports from cruisers that check in/check out was costing upwards of $300 to $500 usd, we...

Depth sounder offset. True or depth beneath keel????

Ours is set to depth from the water surface. We know we draw 5 1/2'. Depth sounder set to water depth allows us to compare water depth to depth shown on charts. Works for us

    Attempted Piracy?

We were actively monitoring VHF Channel 16. There was sporadic transmissions back and forth between two vessels in Spanish, but nothing directed at us. We elected NOT to open communication, desiring not to identify ourselves to the other vessel. If we had not been able to draw away from the...

    Wanted: Ford Lehman 120 manifold

Ford Lehman 120 manifold wanted to buy. Anyone out there have a FL-120 manifold for sale? Or know where I can purchase one in good condition? I am located in Florida, near Fort Myers, but any location would work with shipping. Helping a neighbor getting his boat running. Price would be...

    CASH???

Knew (vaguely) a guy who owned a legal Medical Marijuana Shop in Washington State. Gov't says you can use a bank to deposit $$ in from sale of Marijuana since it still illegal by Federal law, so ALL of his transactions were in cash, cars, house, etc.

How to choose a listing agent - or sell myself?

We have bought and sold houses without brokers, multiple boats without brokers, as well as motor vehicles. It's not difficult. We have also bought and sold houses WITH agents/brokers. It depends on your individual circumstances. I recommend you do as above, empty the boat of ALL personal...

PNW to Mexico, Panama Canal, and Florida, on our way at last!

We completed the run from San Blas Islands, Panama to Fort Myers, Florida, then up the Caloosahatchee Canal to our new to us dock, I mean house, outside of Labelle, Florida. The run from Panama to the US was 1,240 miles, and took us just under 7 days and 12 hours for an average speed of 6.89...
