I've had success with finer divisioned step-drill bits. Also flipping the part over and finishing the other half of the hole from the back side.

Yes! Never be afraid to abort attempt and start over. More than a few occasions I've pulled back out into the fairway and turned around. Easier to do that than try and correct a botched landing. Also, I'd say learn to you use pilings to pivot off of. I've used mine plenty of time to catch...

I have the opposite problem. If I could change one thing about my boat, would be to quiet it down. It's obnoxiously loud and has given guests headaches on longer trips. I think I need a tune up, the engines refuse to synch up and I get that ear peircing drone that cycles in and out :angry:

If you make it to Norfolk, I've been dealing with Murphy's Propeller forever. Outboards, sailboat propeller, shafting, and last year I had my Bayliners Nibral props tweaked down in pitch there.

I live on my boat. Big items, things, collections, etc. are easy to organize and store. But all the misc. crap is tough to figure out where it goes. And the longer I live on my boat, the more of this misc. crap tend to accumulate. I don't know what to do with it. How do you all organize...

I've done plenty of body work on cars, and having a solid foundation makes for a great and long lasting paint job :thumb: My guess is that over the years, moisture has wicked it's way into one crack...which freezes and expands in the winter...allows more moisture to collect, etc. Same reason...

Agree with some of the other posters. Whatever boat you buy, practice on it and figure out how it handles in different conditions. I solo a 3870 a lot, and have a Plan "A" (which is when everything goes right), Plan "B" (try something different when I have to abort and try again), and Plan "C"...

Is this something I can tap-test and tear a hollow thud? When I tore out the first strut, some 5200 took the cast pad and a layer of the original hull (even after heat :facepalm: ) so I know there was no gap in round one of the the starboard strut. I will dry torque the struts tomorrow and...

Such a frustrating experience. I needed to replace to my struts (long story) and I have the dry fit basically perfect. The alignment is spot on, the shafts sit on the bottom of the cutlass bearing and the shafts spin with one finger on the propeller. I used two bolts to hold a strut in place...

I did a little Googlin' after reading that 2-3 year remark and the most complaints I read were when in 2017ish Garmin dumped "HELM" for Active Captain and discontinued support some legacy models that didn't have WiFi capabilities... What do you mean that the 942sx is being dumped right now...

Side Scan Sonar more likely won't work on my boat, it looks like my transducer will end up being a GT23M-TH. Now I'm just trying to decide between a Garmin GPSMAP 942xs or the simpler ECHOMAP Plus 94sv. Both will do what I want them to do, and watching videos, they seem stupid simple to use...

After watching those videos posted above, and some more research, Garmin seems to be the most user friendly and that is my number 1 feature!
