I spent the money and put a Marquipt on my DeFever. That’s what it had back in the day. Very nice, or cheap

    Bow Thruster vs Stern Thruster

I have a 34 Marine Trader with a bow thruster. There is no way I would ever have a single screw without one. My bought also has a Lehman 120. This picture is before I bought her and started repairs. Sent from my iPad using Trawler Forum Raymond Goff 1978 Marine Trader 34...

    Ford Lehman 120 Tach Died

Update: I did the test suggested by American Diesel, no luck. Pulled the alternator and brought to a local shop. Bench test showed it was pretty much dead. They actually had a re manufactured in stock and ten min later they swapped pulley and I was out the door. I will put it in tonight and...

    Ford Lehman 120 Tach Died

I talked to American Diesel. They suggested i jump the oil pressure switch and see if the switch is bad. I will be doing this later today to see if the switch is causing charging and tach issues. RG

    Ford Lehman 120 Tach Died

It looks like I am getting about 1v at idle and around 2+ with some throttle. The alternator had a bad shimmy due to a bad spacer. Could the alternator be having issues?

    Ford Lehman 120 Tach Died

All: Sorry for delay in replying. I am trying to figure out how my tach was wired. Many mentioned a starboard side sender, but I don't see anything. Is there where is WOULD be if I had one? Based on other pics on the web, I think it is.... If that is where is would be if I had starboard...

    Ford Lehman 120 Tach Died

Hi, I have a new to me trawler with Single Ford Lehman 120. Tachs worked ok at first. They looked like they were "sticking" for a little bit then died on a cruise. A couple times it looked like they were coming back to live, but they are dead. Need help to start debugging the problem. Not...

Lehman 120 Tach Issues - Different Readings

Hi all. I only have about 10 hours on my new to me 78 Marin Trader 34. I am still trying to find the "sweet" spot for cruising RPMs. So any advise for that one. But main question for this post: I noticed my upper helm gauge is showing 200 Rpm more than lower gauge. They both "stick" a bit...

    Fuel Polishing? Need Some Insight

It seems that Bob Smith doesn't do those anymore. Anyone aware of diesel sessions elsewhere? It looks some there may be some at the trawlerfests. Are those worth anything.

    Fuel Polishing? Need Some Insight

When I took pictures the other day, I did not trace past engine. I will do that if I make it over to the boat today. Make sure diagram is right. It does seem now, based on Stone Beach feedback, that my Racor setup is a Primary and Backup. I originally thought is was one per inbound feed...

    Fuel Polishing? Need Some Insight

It seems to me, based on the picture of the pump, it is bi-directional based on switch position.

    Fuel Polishing? Need Some Insight

All: 1. The "prop" and "packing" are the water feeds off engine. 2. I neglected to look at the lines back to the tanks, but based on the diagram I just did below, I don't see a return line (which is needed for polishing - right?). I think then this must be for priming...definitely seems weird...

    Fuel Polishing? Need Some Insight

Now that it's warming up, I am starting to crawl through my new to me trawler a bit more. I crawled to the back of the engine room, to look at my filters, and found a device I was not familiar. I believe it's a fuel polishing system, but I'm not sure which way to turn the handles and how do...

    Trawlerfest - Anacortes WA

If it's like the one I went to last year in CT, boats are big and expensive. I ended up finding one local sooner than planned. People tell me the AGLCA rendezvous are really good to see boats when the do the trawler crawls.
