    Foiling power boats

I wonder how long before we see cruising pleasure boats in the doing this. A lot of power to get the lift, after that I assume quite efficient.

    One year of ownership

We took delivery of Ahi a year ago today. Very happy with the boat. 4780nm for the year bumped up a bit by the circumnavigation of New Zealand. Went out for a fish to celebrate.

The high cost of boat ownership

I have no intention of going on a cruise ship, let alone cruise continuously. But the price of $38k per year to travel the world brings into sharp focus the cost of doing it on your own boat. That price includes all meals and medical on board, I didn't read the rest...

    Navy to the rescue

This guy was really lucky given the weather in New Zealand at the moment. Sea conditions were recorded at a peak of 11m in the area. Really the only vessel around that was capable of the rescue was the frigate Te Mana and they got him. That was some achievement. Details are sketchy, but it seems...

    40' displacement powercat

The concept: A robust coastal cruiser, comfortable for a week at a time, and longer on occasional expeditions. The boat is also my apartment when I work in Auckland. Because of that I head out to the Hauraki Gulf islands to overnight solo, one or two nights a week. We wanted: 1. Easy to handle...

    Yanmar 4LV 230hp

I'm building a new boat and the NA recommends the Yanmar 4LV 230hp engines. Any one here have any experience with them? They rev pretty high at 3800 and I think they are based on the Toyota Landcruiser Prado engine?

    Yanmar Parts

Does anyone know a good supplier of Yanmar parts? I need a couple of sumps for 6LPA-STP2. I've been quoted USD1950 each here in NZ......

    Cruising SE Alaska

We are keen to cruise to SE Alaska next summer. The question is how to do it? The options we are exploring: 1. Buy a boat, do the trip and sell it again. 2. Charter. 3. Ship our own boat from New Zealand and sell it or ship it back afterwards. Our current boat is fairly small and we can ship it...
