    MMSI rant, part two

Can you point me to the law about this? I've change several on my boats and I'd hate to end up in MMSI prison. Seriously though, I've read through the USCG info about changing the MMSI and I don't see that rule. Thanks

    Gulfstar 43 Dimensions

I don't know if it's more "rolly polly" than any other round chine boat. It's mostly a comfortable ride but it can roll around some if the sea state is bad. I try not to get caught out in bad seas. I know, I'm a sissy but I need to keep my wife in boating.

    Gulfstar 43 Dimensions

My fuel consumption pretty much mirrors Rogers. Same tank shape. I have a hard time slowing to 7.5 knots. I usually cruise at 9 knots burning 3 gallons per hour. My engines are 6.354 turbo. Had to replace a turbo this year. That sucked.

    Gulfstar 43 Dimensions

I own a Gulfstar 43 trawler. I find both heads very roomy. I think the heads are larger than on comparable sized boats I've been on. Regarding the beds in the rear stateroom, I sleep on the port side and my wife sleeps on the starboard. We've got plenty of room. I don't have the exact...

    Citimarine? Used them?

I've used Citimarine several times. They are competitive on price and their customer service is fantastic. On one order I bought 2 cutlass bearings and bought the wrong size. I had some fiberglass work to do before I could reinstall the struts, I did not realize that I had the wrong size for...

For Sale: Marinco CS503-50 Shore Power Cord $200

JimW, all I know is that the wire gauge is the same but the plug ends are not the same. Dhayes is correct, 50 amp 125v is not the same as 50 amp 125/250v. I hate to cut the ends off a new cord but I guess its an option.

For Sale: Marinco CS503-50 Shore Power Cord $200

I have a Marinco 50 amp 125v shore power cord for sale. It's like brand new. It's never been plugged in. I bought the wrong one for my boat. :banghead::banghead: Be sure this is the cord you need. Doing dumb stuff costs money!! You pay cost of shipping. I'll pack it up and take it to UPS...

    Fridge doesn’t work on DC

Hey Angus, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago describing your exact problem with part numbers, etc. Different fridge but likely similar if not identical parts: http://www.trawlerforum.com/forums/s3/vitrifrigo-repairs-35428.html Maerin came up with the part numbers for Vitrifrigo. Your...

Can we come up with a more original excuse?

Maybe people say they are selling because of health problems are having health problems and they don't want to deal with a boat while dealing with health issues. Heart issues, stroke, and cancer come suddenly and change your world in a moment. A Seller who is selling because of health issues may...

    Perkins T6354

I looked at a Defever 40 in Texas. I loved the boat but I could not get my wife to buy into the deal. I ended up with a Gulfstar 43 trawler, also in Texas. I really liked the single engine in the Defever. Lots of room in the engine room. But.... you have to be careful with those old Defevers...

    Perkins T6354

I've had them in 2 different boats. Heat exchangers are expensive and somewhat scarce when they need replaced. The only thing I've ever had to do was have the injector pumps rebuilt. Great engines. I wouldn't worry about them. Is this boat in Texas?

    A Bad Monkey Tail

Stan, My experience with cheap scopes is that the quality of the image is pitiful. They look good when you see them in the store with plenty of light but when you stick them down an injector hole you can't tell what you are looking at. They may have gotten better in recent years. This was 3 or 4...

Using a Makita 3-3/8" saw to re-groove teak seams?

Put this blade in your Fein tool https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/mobileportal/show_product.do?pid=3332 It's made specifically for what you are trying to do. Why reinvent the wheel?

    Perkins 6-354 in 1978 ALBIN 36 Trawler

I had a Perkins 6.354 NA engine in my Albin 36. It was a replacement for the original Lehman that came in the boat. Great engine. I have twin Perkins 6.354t in my current boat. Again, great engines, although if it needs exhaust manifold replacement it may be difficult (not impossible) to source.
