    Electric bow thruster batteries?

Our boat has a Vetus*electric bow thruster powered off the house deep cycle battery bank via a 15' (guesstimate) cable.* This does not seem a very efficient set up.* Wouldn't starter type batteries be more suited for the application? If so, how do you size the batery bank?* Thinking about...

Recommendation for Surveyor in Pensacola, FL area

Hi Scott, We used the service of William Gladding in Jacksonville to survey a 1987 Krogen 42 I don't know how far he travels. We recommend his service very highly. We are newbies. He were present during the entire process. He was very patient in helping us understand how the various systems...

AIRSEP or Diesel Air Filter Questions? I can help

I am concerned that an airsep system would create a path for a potential runaway situation. Creating a path between the crankcase and the air intake, isn't this a possibility? On another subject, how effective is the fuelsep system? Thanks, Glenn

Anyone with a Krogen 42 with starboard dbl berth

There are a couple of possible downsides to an island berth on a Krogen 42. You lose a head in that arrangement. Sure is nice to have his and her heads. Also makes for a nice backup when the inevitable head problem appears.

Anyone with a Krogen 42 with starboard dbl berth

Hi Scott, We have the arrangement you described.* I am 5'9", my wife is 5'4".* Plenty of room for us. She sleeps aganst the hull.* Since I like to get up at nite that works out best.* The bed is a bit high and we use a stool to climb in.* Not having access to the hull side makes a little more...

    Pilothouse window strut

Thanks Keith, You seem to be the only other Krogonite on the site , although I do see comments from Molly Blossom* occasionally.* Nice hearing from you. The strut only allows the window to go to about 45 degrees.* I am sure this is not OEM, so I have no idea what characteristics OEM had.*...

    Pilothouse window strut

The center pilothouse window on my Krogen 42 has two lift struts.* When the window is in the open position the bottom of the window frame is right in the midddle of my line of sight.* I have looked for a strut with a longer throw, but have not had any success.* I am also concerned that if I get...

    Bronze Rub Rail

Hi Keith, I sent an email to Bristol Bronze and they indicated they have it in various widths in 6' and 12' lengths.* Have not ordered it as I am shopping for a cheaper alternative.* Take care, Glenn

    Bronze Rub Rail

Thanks for the reply. Jamestown does not carry it. The only new source I have found is "Bristol Bronze". Afraid to ask the cost+shipping. The boat is in FT. Myers. I am in Virginia. I think the width is 1.5 inches and 6' long. I would need to check to ensure a match with the existing.

    Transom Soot

Thanks again everyone. The engine runs great. We moved her 600 miles after purchase withou a hiccup. Starts immediatly. Burns 2.5 gals per hour @ 1800 rpm. No oil consumption. We had the tanks pumped and cleaned and fresh 700 gallons (ouch) of fuel. Treated fuel with a Valvetec fuel additive...

    Transom Soot

Thanks for everyone's input. The boat is new to us so we are learning its quirks. The boat is a Krogen 42 with a 135hp Lehman (no turbo). It has about 2600 hours. Max rpm 2550 under load. Never tried full throttle without load (afraid to try). Sat unused for about 6 years before our...

    Spade

Thanks for the input everyone.* I was actually thinking of purchasing the A200.* It is only about 10% lighter than the S140 ( almost the same as the S120) but has about 50% more surface area, as this seems to be important as well.** Great discussion.* Thanks.

    Spade

Hi Keith, I am a new Krogen 42 owner as of May. A new spade anchor is on my wish list. What size and composition spade do you use? I was thinking of buying the aluminum version to get the the largest surface area for the weight. Thanks for the reply. Glenn
