I couldn't see it, but it could be a pressure switch. Whatever it is, it would move when I stuck the nozzle of the cleaner into the fitting. I have no smell now, but we do pump weekly.

It's where the vent.hose connects to the holding tank. I was having problems even after I changed my filter. I pulled the hose off the tank and it was plugged shut. It appeared that it had some type of flapper valve inside.

I used carb cleaner to remove the buildup on my vent valve. Works great now. Put some white vinegar into your holding tank 24-48 hours before pumpout. It will help clear the sludge.

We just moved aboard full time. Have no land based home as we sold it over two years ago. Even though we just recently committed, the past three months we spent 85% of our time on it. We do have an office 2.5 blocks away where we store things and have a couch with a tv for that activity.
