Navionics charts new port to port routing

And while we are on the subject...anyone have any idea as to why the depths shown on the Navionics app are so far off from the actual depths?? And yes, its set to feet.

Navionics charts new port to port routing

Just completed a 3 week trip to the Abacos aboard a friends boat and used the auto routing feature on my Samsung Tablet. As others have said you must check the routes but I found it to be very helpful, especially when entering harbours that the nav aids were missing from. We visited Schooner...

    Large tender onto sundeck?

I travel on a 52' sportfish(lot of open space on the bow) that we carry a 13' Boston Whaler on the bow. The boat came from the factory with a 1000 lb crane and the Whaler is probably pushing that limit. As stated, the boat will list some when loading and its a 2 man job. And definitely not a job...

    High thrust outboards

Sorry for the late reply to this thread but had to put lots of things on hold due to 5 1/2 weeks of chemo and radiation. I WILL be boating next week...LOL As far as reverse thrust, being an old sailboater, I always approach docks slowly and with the old Honda, usually it took a lot of throttle...

    High thrust outboards

I went with the Suzuki 50hp High Thrust and couldn't be happier. The extra thrust is amazing and the larger lower unit really helps with the way the boat tracks. It was a good decision.

    Nimble Nomad Trawler

Hi Richard. I actually saw one of these at the local Ft.Myers Boat show a few months ago. I didn't inquire as to the price but I would bet its going to be more than a used Nomad. I do like the way they utilize the space in the, There must be a local(south Fla) dealer close by for a price quote.

    Punta Gorda Seawalls

Also live on Pine Island in St.James City with over 30 year old sea wall. We were lucky and had no damage. But many did and as previously stated, not enough contractors to go around. Hoping mine last my lifetime..LOL

    Robertson AP-35 Auto Pilot

Our friends AP-20 screen has done the same thing but we have not been able to find anyone or anything to repair it. Might give the repair service mentioned a call.

Western FL Local Knowledge for Pine Island Please.

Live on PI and agree with ljk....do not attempt the east side passage. OK in a smaller boat but not with a 4' draft!

    Fast Bahamas cruiser

We go to the Bahamas often with friends on their 52' Ocean Yacht. Although its sportfish hull will take lots of punishment we still watch our weather. Once there we seldom get over 10mph ..He used to own a 32' Proline cuddy with twins that he took there several times. His gas bill was more than...

    SOS Lights

Since the Weems & Plath light is advertised in the classifieds at a great price, I thought I might ask for clarification on this. I purchased one for the boat I travel on quite a bit and was under the impression they were legal everywhere. But then... A friend was stopped and inspected a few...

    Stuck in West Florida?

I think he means LaBelle. Actually there are two yards between Moore Haven and LaBelle.

    Knives For Emergency use

My boat is pretty small compared to most of the responders so I keep one by the helm and one at the stern. My choice is the Kershaw dive knife, around $20 to $25 depending on where you buy them. Serrated edge and line cutting notch. Can also be had with a blunt tip.

    Nimble Nomad Trawler

New Suzuki 50 High Thrust. The power head is about the same size of the old Honda but the lower unit and prop is much larger. Suzuki info says the lower unit is adapted from a 140hp motor! All I know is that it works very well. Including pic of old motor for comparison.

    Nimble Nomad Trawler

Well, the repower of Sweet Pea was finally completed after Hurricane Irma roared through our island. She rode it out on a trailer at the boat yard awaiting the correct pitch prop. I reluctantly repowered my trusty 26 yr old Honda 45hp with a 50hp Suzuki Hi-Thrust. The yard really didn't know...

    I ❤️ My 37 Nordic Tug - Brick Sh#t House

We spent the hurricane in a friends newer home with hurricane glass right on Pine Island Sound so we had a great if not a little scary view. The water was pulled out for about 6 hrs and when the wind direction changed it came back in very quicky..20 to 30 minutes! The picture shows the bottom...

    Cleaning Awlgrip Woes

Just "waxed" my year old coat of green Awlcraft with the Awlcare polymer liquid. Easy to use, wipe on with "cotton" rag, let haze up and wipe off with a "cotton" cloth. Looks great and will do it again in another year. Not sure why they specify cotton but thats what I used.

    No AC in FL summer

92.8 was the water temp and you would be hard pressed to find anything deeper than 20' feet in the Sound..LOL

    Vacuflush blues

Have had experience with the "fountain of poop" on friends boat...Not fun at all... Actually it looked more like a "volcano of poop" to me...LOL

    No AC in FL summer

Great pic of your boat Janice...have always loved Shuckers. As to the water temps in the summer in Fla...yesterday the temp in Pine Island Sound was 92.8! No hull cooling from that...LOL

    Nimble Nomad Trawler

I have not seen one yet on the water other than the first hull. There were some folks on here trying to sell their interest in one. They apparently contracted to have one built but wanted out. Curious to know myself if any were made and are on the water.

    High thrust outboards

Anyone have any experience with them? I am going to repower my Nomad trawler and considering one. I presently have a 1991 Honda 45 hp that still runs but is starting to have issues(tilt/trim, oil leaks). The one I am looking at is a Suzuki 50 hp high thrust. It spins a 14" prop vs the 11" on...

For Sale: Navico HS8000 Heading sensor

Trying to keep an old Navico autopilot system going? I have a basically new heading sensor for a Navico system. It was originally for a 8000 system but may work for other models or even other applications. When I bought it from Navico/Simrad several years ago it was the last one in their...
