Easy Anchor Drum Puller

Hi,

Does anyone have one of these?





The company is no longer in business.

I am rebuilding it. I thought that after removing the motor, I would be able to unspool the rode. No joy!

Should it unspool manually? I don't want to spend the time and $ to find out that I have a gear box problem.

If you are able to rotate the motor shaft manually that will test the gearbox.
With a worm gear style pinion the drum will be prevented from rotating
independent of the motor shaft.

I tried to test the motor before removing it but it didn't work. The gear on the motor is not a worm drive:



The output does change direction at the drum gear box so there could be a worm drive there.
