Sudden Power Loss

I was out cruising yesterday at around 10 MPH when all of a sudden it felt like the engine lost power, although it didn't appear that the throttle had moved. I throttled it back into neutral and a short while later I tried to throttle it slowly back up and it seemed to work ok. But I am concerned this will happen again. Any thoughts on what would cause this? Thanks.

Maybe fuel filter?

a pocket of air entered the fuel lines. sometimes happens with low fuel level and some boat movements.

Sounds like fuel problem.
