    1973 GB 32, v-berth centerboard

The 32 is a great boat. I have fond memories from living on one for 2 years. A center board did make the bunk more spacious, but I only used it once as it got in the way. When it was in place it was hard to get in and out of the bunk and difficult to make it up. (Twin sized sheets will fit on...

GB 32 Sedan - Positives and negatives

The other interesting thing is it came with a pair of Lehman 225s. Also stainless hand rails.

GB 32 Sedan - Positives and negatives

Decks and fuel tanks Definitely important to watch the bungs on the teak decks, but at least equally if not more important is to regularly check the integrity of the caulk around the fuel fill. With time the teak around the fill becomes compressed and the seal breaks down. This allows water...

GB 32 Sedan - Positives and negatives

32 vs 36 GB Having had both a 32 (past) and 36 Classic (present) the main difference I find other than space is the 36’s ease of handling, especially when single hand. The 32 does not have direct access from either helm to the side decks for docking. This can make docking when alone or with...

GB 32 Sedan - Positives and negatives

GBs Insurance should not be a problem. GBs have good bones. This can’t be said about all older trawlers. Unless totally buggered up you can always restore a GB to close to its original condition. Check out Oxford Yacht Agency’s website to get an idea of what can be done.

    1982 GB 36 single prop

A friend with a 36 gave it to me. I believe it came from the GB Facebook site. Enjoy your boat. I admit that I am a Grand Banks snob and I think the 36 Classic was the best one they ever made.

    1982 GB 36 single prop

GBs props This list should prove helpful. I agree with Cigatoo. You are probably fine. If you are due for a hull out your speed is most likely being determined by bottom and prop growth rather than your prop specs. It doesn’t take much to reduce efficiency. While you’re out have the prop...

    Berth Conversion

It’s called a Classic for a reason. Inside and out they are one of the prettiest boats out there. Don’t mess it up.

    Annunciator panel lamps

Upgrading warning lights to LEDs I had the same issue plus some corrosion in some of the sockets making them unreliable. Ended up replacing all the bulbs/sockets with flush mount Oznium 11mm bolt LEDs from Amazon. Much brighter. You can’t miss it if one lights up. Worked so well I fabricated...

    Ford Lehman 2728T losing power

Panama, Thank you for the insight. My engines are 225s. They have an intercooler (which I have bypassed per Brian at American Diesel), but no aftercooler. However, there is a sheathed line to the injector pump, but it comes from the base of the oil filter mount. Probably part of the...

    Ford Lehman 2728T losing power

Sorry. Typo. There two check valves in the return lines before they “T”. One on the secondaries and one on the injection pump. If stuck open they can pull fuel back thru. On the injector pump this might explain why the flow thru the Racor drops when put under load.

    Ford Lehman 2728T losing power

Thanks all. Trying to eliminate all the other things before pulling the injector pump for a rebuild. (These pumps do not have their own oil reservoir.) I have checked the vents, run with tank cap off, had the injectors serviced, made sure the shut down solenoid fully opens, rebuilt the...

    Ford Lehman 2728T losing power

Thanks to you both. Sunchaser: No service records came with the boat Hytedin: Good insight. Just talked to Brian a few minutes ago. He suggested confirming the check valve on the injector pump is not stuck open. Had already checked the one between lift pump and the secondaries. I’ll...
