Good morning, we are headed up the Delaware and it will be over on the Chesapeake in a few days we were thinking about venturing in to Baltimore area but it seems I get about a fifty-fifty mix of peoples opinions saying to go vs skip.
Looking for recommendations

Experience is somewhat dependent on $ expenditure. From water side the yacht basin, water taxi and restaurants make for a pleasurable stay.

We liked our stay in Baltimore when we were doing the loop. The inner harbor is worth a visit, go to an Orioles game, visit Little Italy, definitely worth a stop.

Never been to inner harbor by boat (yet), but I’ve been there once a year for 18 years and it can be a zoo at night. Never felt unsafe on land though.

Loved it every time I stopped 2012-2018 (most every year at least one way when snowbirding from Jersey to Florida). I generally detest cities but in a concentrated area, there is a lot to do and see. I did know locals so that helped somewhat...but a 2-3 day stay ever several years I think would be worth it no matter local help or city phobia like I have.

As far as the channel closing, I think there is still small boat movement now and the inner harbor may actually be a lot nicer if a lot of others are avoiding it for the same reason.

If you stick to inner harbor, may be ok. "Harborplace" is defunct. Fells point is overrun with rowdy youth shooting each other, drinking on the street.
600 vacancies in the police force. Under 12 can't be arrested or questioned. Lived nearby 30 yrs, I don't go anywhere near the city now.
Go & enjoy!

Main channel reopened last week. Unfortunately you just missed Navy Fleet week. Today was the final day. Don’t let the naysayers keep you out. Baltimore has one of the nicest waterfronts on the east coast. Use a little “city common sense” and you’ll be fine. If you have any specific questions don’t hesitate to ask.

We keep our boat in Baltimore ( Anchorage Marina ) Great Marina, Free breakfast on Saturday morning and bands on Saturday nights. Short walk into Fells Point and a little farther into the harbor. Right across from the marina in Canton there are many restaurants. As long as you don’t venture out late at night no problems. A little common sense and you’ll have a great time.

I'd stop for sure for more than 1 day. Soft shell crabs, flounder, oysters and clams...

I miss Hausner's restaurant. A true gem in a rougher part of town. I liked the inner harbor but haven't been for a long time. Nothing stays the same unfortunately.
