I have a functioning Roberston AP1000 autopilot and want to add a rudder angle indicator to the helm. Is it possible to tap off the rudder wiring? If I can which brand of rudder indicator would I need to purchase?

I don’t know about the Robertson 1000, but many APs send their rudder position info out on one or more NMEA 0183 or 2000 ports so that is can be used/displayed by other devices. You might look into whether the Robertson 1000 can do that.

Thanks for that tip, I'm looking into adding a NMEA system to the boat anyway, so now is the time!

There is a fellow in Port Townsend, WA who specializes in Robertson AP’s. He has been extremely helpful with my 1000. His company is West Coast Electronics, his name is Rich Barnes. He should be able to answer any of your questions. 206-604-5168, robertsonrepairs@earthlink.net

Thank you all for the assistance. You've opened up several possibilities.
