Hello, my name is Brian and am new to the trawler community. Moving from aviation to a boating lifestyle. My girlfriend and I are in escrow now on a 1983 Ocean Alexander 43' aft cabin, which will stay in the Anacortes area. We will be remote owners, spliting time between the PNW and our home states of KS and NC.
Looking forward to interacting with the community here, and utilizing the resources! With my limited boating experiance, we'll need all the help we can get!

Welcome. Hopefully you have someone who can serve as a local care taker when you are away? Some insurance companies are not willing to write policies for older boats, especially if the owner lives out of state. Do you already have a policy? If not that should be first thing on your to do list for today.

Have a policy. It wasnt difficult to get, but they did require a full boat and mechanical survey (with oil samples), wich I had already completed. Was pleasantly suprised at the premium too. Much cheaper to insure the boat compared to my airplane.
I do have someone to keep an eaye on her, but for the time being, after our maiden voage in a few weeks, she will be in dry storage. Best I can do while we wait for a slip to become available.
