My wife and I are in the market for a GB32. We are up in the PNW and looked at one this past weekend. It's a very nice boat, really roomy for the two of us and large enough for two couples in a pinch.

We currently own a Bayliner 285 and the head is so small that my wife can't close the door for privacy. So, when we looked at this GB32, the first thing my wife did was sit on the head and try to close the door. Still no luck. She is 5'10", but has long legs with very long thigh bones. Overall, the boat is great and I would probably buy it, but the head may end up being a deal breaker.

I have a couple of questions. First, does anyone else have this issue and what have you done about it?

Second, would it be possible to make the door frame deeper so that the head door could be pushed out into the berth an inch or two? I didn't think of this until after we left otherwise I would have taken pictures to help me figure this out.

Glad someone else made head usability a buying decision factor. I'm 6'3" and insisted I be able to stand up straight while in the head. My wife would joke we'd have been able to buy a smaller boat if I wasn't so tall.

My opinion is no modifications to interior space dimensions are EVER going to be cheap, let alone cost-effective. If the design of a boat's interior doesn't work... move on to a different model.

Both the day and master head are plenty roomy in an Eastbay 47. No leg or height issues at all. Though that's probably more boat than you want to consider.

Thank you. Yeah, head size is an issue, but I think it will be an issue for just about any make boat in our size range. We don't want a larger boat at this time (though, as time goes by we'll probably change our tune). We made it through the last 1.5 years on the Bayliner, so we can do it.

I am a handy woodworker, so modifying the door to create more room shouldn't be an issue, I'm just not sure if it will end up taking too much room in the berth area if I did do that.

Looking at floor plan online. Turn bowl 90° fwd, raise sink.
(Ya don't need to wash if ya don't go on your hands. That's what TP is for)

Maybe a Raritan Marine Elegance head would help. They are the best head on the market and you can buy a tall model. You can get pretty much a household size head and if you want it even taller put a riser under the head. If she is sitting higher maybe that would take up some of the long leg issue, maybe?

Take a look at one of the Willard VEGA 30 models. Amazing amount legroom in the head. The door is on the sidewall, photo left
