It is common for everyone to head south of San Diego/Ensenada after November 1st, primarily to do with insurance restrictions. Is there any community knowledge on conditions if one made the trip in January? I had planned to go the normal time, but have a couple issues casuing a delay. Thanks for your knowlendge.

You'll be fine in January.

The weather is calm that time of year on the outside, with occasional northerlies, so if anything you'll have a tail wind.

We departed Ensenada the first week of December, and arrived in San Jose about 5 weeks later and well into January. This leg presented plenty of interesting exploring and tremendous wildlife viewing. It was our favorite part of the Baja Peninsula.

I agree with previous responses - January is fine. Only items I'd add are the days are short (and cold) so can complicate stopping during daylight hours if that's part of your plan. And that while the weather is generally pretty calm, not uncommon to see some decent sized swells from distant Low Pressure events, though these swells are typically orderly and well-spaced so not a ride-stopper.
