Bilge pump float switch

I have an Ultra switch for my shaft sump and love it. However, I have another low spot in the forward section of the engine room (that should never ever have water) that I want to put a high water alarm switch. What is the consensus on these solid state switches? Link to one that looks great - Seaflo 20amp rated. I just need it to power my high water alarm.

 
This is a neat concept and it looks good as presented here. In my experience, the switch was a total failure. I had installed one in my aft lazarette. Water that accumulates in the lazarette is basically rain water -- not salty ocean water. Fresh rain water does not activate the switch. Only way to evacuate the rain water was by pushing the manual activation lever.

Understood. Thanks. So it is measuring conductivity and fresh water may not trigger it. I'd be ok with that as I have zero rain water ever getting into my engine room. The switch would be for some sort of leak (not likely, but who knows what could happen while I'm sleeping and someone else is at the helm on a long passage - peace of mind).
 
I have 2 pumps and 2 switches on board and I trust both.

The Ultra and an air pressure (diving bell) type. The Ultra will cost more than your pump and it's worth it. The air pressure units are less expensive and I used that on the pump that was more favorable to the installation.

Not going with anymore hinged float types - :)

We had an Ultra switch, with it's own (optional) high water alarm That alarm would wake the dead...
