    Galvanic Isolator

Thanks for the explanation. When I realized that I had not called them by their proper name it was too late to edit the post. As I understand it they (Isolation Transformers) give the same end result without the need for the Galvanic Isolators in addition. in any case I do change the zincs...

    Galvanic Isolator

The Mainship 34 t's (later models) were built with Charles Isolators. The diver said that when he cleaned the boat this next time he was going to replace the zincs. This is the first time in two and one half years. I'm guessing they work.

    Correct use of batteries

Wow what a bunch of legal speak. Who wrote that Congress? " "But in a properly designed, voltage-regulated system, water loss should not cause maintenance-free batteries to fail," said Mr. Hart." Unfortunately this is not the case in most boats. You can't stick them in there and forget them...

    ELCI plus GFCI?

Agree but aren't the instructions quite clear as to how to do it. If I remember it is one or two jumpers that need to be connected or disconnected.

    Volvo Penta V-6 diesels

They won't last forever so in 20 or maybe 30 years they will be in the class of the Volvo's as far as parts availability. Don't airplanes have the same issues? If it wasn't for some old AP in a remote little airport that knows how to make part ABC the whole plane would have to be...

    Correct use of batteries

No such thing as a seal flooded battery. GEL and AMG yes flooded no. They need to breath due to the manufacturing of H. So there needs to be a way to add water. These batteries may have a better recapture system than regular batteries but they still will lose H2O to the atmosphere.

    Correct use of batteries

The charger acts just like another big battery except it is connected to a never ending source, 110VAC. That's what happens when you jump a battery. One is discharged to say 9V, so it can't turn the engine and the other is at 12V. Connect them together and you get 10.5V or so and the engine...

Cleaning a raw water a/c unit

Ron, I'm not sure about how you use your A/C but on mine here in NC the one or two small tablets are only in the strainer for a day to a day and a half. During the time of year I use them the A/C pump runs almost constant for the better part of the day in 80*+ weather. Either one or the other...

    ELCI plus GFCI?

Why not put one on each side? If it is the first in line from the breaker it will GFI all of the down stream outlets.

Cleaning a raw water a/c unit

Let's be clear here. JD said "I don't think so. The question was "does anyone use it " Not about metering it in on a constant basis. Everyone that answered in the positive said that they put a tablet or two in the strainer and ran the unit. Not one said anything about a metering device."...

Question about 2004 or newer MS 34

This is 100% correct. There no engine smell and very little noise through the deck in the salon. I can get to both sides of my engine quite easily. It helps to have a tool runner if you are working on the port side but with good planning it is quite easy. There are seams in the Teak floor...

replacement of my 30ft pilot mainship AC unit

Flagship has a unit that is 6,500 Btu model FM6R and it is $1,299. Includes new control panel. Don't let that scare you. The panel is wired to the unit by way of a phone wire, just like the wire that goes from your phone to the wall. Easy to route any place. You can add heat $179. With...

Mainship 30 Pilot-II prop Shaft Breakage

The point is that it doesn't dissolve instantly. So if it floats around for a couple of day before it dissolves, and it does, it can go up the vent.

    Boat quality comparison

I'm not a big Pascoe fan so don't take this wrong. But how does he relate the two. A perfectly well built quality boat may have missed the market it was meant for. So after a three or four year run it may get the axe for a redo in the same boat but under a different model name. On the other...

replacement of my 30ft pilot mainship AC unit

How did the 7K unit do in the summer time in south FL? Is your unit under the bed in the forward stateroom as it is in a 2006 34t? If so the question about the amount of air the A/C can get is not relevant. The A/C on my front unit has two vents cut into the side wall of the area under the...
