    For you South FL Cruisers

*"Once upon a time" are just fairy tales.* "This ain't no S**t" are real sea stories. -- Edited by JD on Sunday 26th of February 2012 07:05:26 AM

    Burgee

*Very attractive.* I have mixed emotions about the .COM part.* In one sense it is part of the formal name as Inc is of a company name.* But in another it does look like an ad. So maybe the .com could be in smaller letters. -- Edited by JD on Sunday 26th of February 2012 07:01:24 AM

    Understanding my genset alternator

*I agree with Scott.* You are probably getting 11 amps per bank.* So why not combine the two house banks into one large house bank and then use only bank one on the charger directly to the house bank B+.* If you think the wire is under gauge fix it.* #8 should be able to make almost any run or...

    Understanding my genset alternator

What you have is common I believe.* The idea being that the Gen-Set battery always gets a full charge no matter what happens to the house and or start. I think the problem is that the Gen Set engine will not be able to drive your Generator plant and a 200 Amp Alternator.* It takes a lot of HP...

    Here's two serious passagemakers

*That blue smudge is covering* the classified, top secret magnetohydrodynamic drive output. *I think you are right Al.* You can see the scorch marks from when it is operation. They produce a lot of heat.* Or so I understand.

    Too much anchor

*I think you're* wrong there, Scott.* I think the greatest concentration of lies at any given time on the planet is at the alternating Paris and Farnborough airshows.* If you want to learn from the pros how to spin a negative into a positive, that's the place to go. Our competitor is brilliant...

    Boatless?

Really!* Usage is down for gasoling over the last three years in this country.* So what does big oil do?* Sell it to other countries that will use it and then guess what? The supply here is down again, oh darn we*have to raise the price.

    Trawler vs. Sea Ray Sundancer

*I can see you have never been through the bridge at Surf City.* The lady (that may be a stretch) there is something else.* One day we were coming up the ICW*and there were three others right behind me as we approached.* I was in the lead and called for the opening which is on the hour only.* I...

    Trawler vs. Sea Ray Sundancer

    * *New Years day was the first time that I saw and heard this enforced by the bridge tender.* We were standing by for the Beaufort Bridge in Beaufort NC.* We and several other boats were on the south side as were several boat on the north side of the bridge.* As folks approached and asked for...

Winter Project I: Charging System Upgrade

*Tom, There is a scrap iron store in NB that sometime has all kind of wire.* Also have you been to Jarret Bays salvage store.* New left over parts from the yards that built boats there. Rust Ron's in Morehead City, more of the same.* You might be able to buy a couple of 20' sections of*00*wire...

    Mainship Trawler 34

Well here is how you get conflicting reports.* When one says a Mainship 34 one is covering boats from the 80's through 2009.* As an example ask for the top end on a White Corvette.* Several folks with White Corvettes will answer but a 54 six and a 2009 will have a great disparity. I would guess...

    Propane Fueled Outboards

*I don't think anyone said they were banned.* You just can't buy a new one.* So banned or not once the old ones die there will be no more.

    Propane Fueled Outboards

*Yes they all do but you can not buy them here in the US. I think there is a company that exports from China that will ship here but I'm afraid that if the Customs folks get a wild hair you might not get your engine.* Also if you go to the islands you can buy them new in the name brands such as...

Mainship 390 is it the right boat?

*Sorry I was away for a couple of days. No the fridge is plenty big.*If you keep soda and beer cold by way of a cooler on longer trips.*I did install a cooling fan that lowered the temp inside the fridge and would be glad to explain at some later date if you need it. Engine Life

I have a friend that lives in FL and has a GB 36.* He is a retired service manager from a large BMW dealership.* He told me a couple of years back that when he was looking at boats and heard that these engines would run for over 10k hours he just laughed and was sure it was hog wash. He is now...

*I agree.* A large*Minni at just over 15"*might work as well.*Toys not so much. *But certainly a Std would work. There are several Terriers that don't shed. * Most of the wire coats don't. Keep in mind that short hair dogs shed short prickly hairs.

Bridge Project in Galveston Nears Completion

*The one in Downtown New Bern is the same.* It is a swing and closes on an approaching train.* I'm not sure there is a tender there ever. I think asking an approaching train to stop so one could go through would be a little presumptuous. Then again for some maybe not.

    shower drain

What ever you do don't drain into the bilge.* It will change the smell in your boat over time and not for the better.* The bilge doesn't get pumped out to a dry condition and the water remaining will grow all sorts of stuff that not much*short of bleach cures.
