    Firearms on Board

I found this argument very interesting and since this thread is on firearms, thought I'd share. The Gun is Civilization > by Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret) > > Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. > If you want me to do something for you, you...

    insurance

When we bought our 34' CHB last July our marine title guy recommended Markel Insurance and we thought the cost was reasonable and it covered spill coverage and environmental clean up.

    Carnage in Brookings Harbor, Oregon

I'd agree with that, especially with all the wildfires that burn off ground-holding vegetation. I just thought it came at a interesting time, so soon after all the wave surges on the Calif coast.

    Carnage in Brookings Harbor, Oregon

Am wondering if the wave surges Santa Cruz, CA had last week may be the culprit for this disaster. http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/chunk-of-calif-coastal-876010.html This 40ft of Hwy 1 is south of Moss Landing where I boat is located, but one wonders if there will be more of this...

taking courses: USPS or CG Aux courses?

We've taken a few courses with the Power Squadron (Basic Boating and a GPS course); however here is my question. By joining the Squadron are more advanced classes made available to you because you are a member? Also, do they do hands on, in the boat and out to sea type classes???

    Carnage in Brookings Harbor, Oregon

Information was passed to my hubby that U dock at the Santa Cruz marina had 34 boats moored, after the surge, only 4 boats were left.* Marina is closed, you can't leave it or come into it.* So very sad.* Good wake-up call.* With us living 3 hours away, felt so fortunate to have some dock friends...

    Carnage in Brookings Harbor, Oregon

Mike, So sorry to see all this damage to your boat and that GB. Count your blessings and we are thankful you are okay. Our boat is moored at Moss Landing, which is a short distance from Santa Cruz, and other than having a tremendous amount of water sucked out of the marina, all is well at ML and...

    Boat Name installed

Hi Bill, We got our trawler last July, and we did change the name and you're right ...there's alot of hullabaloo and superstition when ones does this, it was a pain but glad now that we did it.

    Boat Name installed

I remember the word Tawanda being used in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, ya suppose it may have been derived from that? We ordered our lettering from Captn John's Boat Lettering online and they did a really great job and we were able to install without much effort at all. We're actually...

Millions of dead fish (sardines) in the Redondo Beach / King Harbor marina (California)

RE: Millions of dead fish (sardines) in the Redondo Beach / King Harbor marina (California) Seagulls and seals certainly appeared to enjoy the unexpected feast. Watched it on the news last night. very bizarre.

    Seasickness

My hubby, the retired deputy sheriff, use to do alot of marijuana grow observance through binoculars on a helicopter and it would make him very sick. Doc gave him this patch he sticks on the skin behind his ear about 3 hours before going up, and it worked like a charm. Well....we tried it for...

    What's in a name?

Not sure I'd ever do this, but speaking of mothers, my grandmother's name was Alpha Omega Quisenberry....wouldn't want to use the whole thing, but Alpha Omega might be a cool name on a boat.

    What's in a name?

Wish I had some clever little story to tell on how we came up with our boat name, but alas, my brain just wasn't working, SO....I came to all of you (you guys and gals probably don't even remember) last July, and asked you 'all to help me come up with a name for our new old 34' CHB, and told you...

    License plate frame

I think the word "trolling" is the one with the bad connotations, i.e, trolling for hookers. Should be pretty safe with trawling.

    License plate frame

Goofy question for a boating forum, but here goes.* My daughter wants to get her father a license plate frame for his truck (for Christmas) that has some catchey boating phrase.* Any of you have any ideas?* And no I don't think "I''d rather be boating/sailing" is a good one.

Wish this had been around when we were looking

Phil: I still do like the Californians, but they were out of our budget. I just though this Albin had the possibility of being a good buy for someone and Albins have a good name in the trawler world. There are several Californians at our marina, and I drool everytime they pass by. That said...

Wish this had been around when we were looking

Makes you realize how easy it is for couples who have been together for so long and one passes, and then the other goes fairly quickly thereafter, with apparently nothing much wrong with them, except a lonely heart. I feel for the widow as well. Okay people someone needs to go buy this and...

Wish this had been around when we were looking

As they say, "its only worth what someone is willing to pay." I hope someone, who felt they'd never get a boat bought, will find this and bring it back. If its just TLC that it needs, it will be a great find for someone, kinda like rescuing a dog nobody wants. I know, I know, I am a big...
