    Cast iron risers on Caterpillar 3208 only last 3 or 4 years we are told. Just replaced at over $NZ 3500 each plus installation. The fresh water flush will add significantly to the life of these risers - we are advised. Most inclined to agree but guess time will tell.

    For the specifications of both 2 and 4 stroke outboards check the Tohatsu NZ site. Comparing the 9.8 hp models I see that the 2 stroke is about 57 lb while the 4 stroke is 81.8 in weight.

    Q: Energize to stop or energize to run solenoid

    Hi Our Cat 3208 NA is wired "energize to run". How do I change to "energize to stop". I presume I need a new solenoid and if so where would I source one of these? Grateful any advice please.

    Thanks for suggestions. I found that our hydraulic steering lines were rubbing on a newly installed bilge hose. Hopefully this is the issue. Will checkout today on sea trial. Thanks again
