    Condensation pan draining

So what's the deal with having a filter on the outgoing condensate drain? If you're "slurping" the condensate for discharge why would you need to filter it?

    Just got back from Bahamas

So, does anyone have any first hand knowledge of what happens if the firearm is actually discharged in these foreign countries? I would expect an intense interrogation at the very least. Would it require some sort of court action to determine justification for discharge even if there were no...

Can anyone recommend a GOOD surveyor in the Savannah, Ga. area?

    Bayliner "trawler" vs Mainship

It's a 3888 with twin 351 Ford engines. I have not seen it in person yet. What are the big concerns with gas? Obviously many are worried about gas fumes. What are the precautions? The boat has been alive since 1989 without exploding so I figure it can be done but I don't know the procedures...

    Bayliner "trawler" vs Mainship

Well, the fuel burn is kind of what I was asking about. Just how much burn do you think there would be in this size boat with the typical twin 240hp engines running at trawler speeds? Weight about 17,500. Would trolling speeds be a lot better? I don't know the engine brand yet.

    Bayliner "trawler" vs Mainship

I am considering purchasing a '89 Bayliner with a gasoline engine (I just learned the difference between an engine and a motor, thank you). I am concerned with the gasoline aspect but I'm not really sure why. I'm not afraid of the gasoline. I plan to use the bilge blowers at all times. My...

    Bbq,s

I read somewhere there are people/marinas that consider propane grilling in the slip as bad manners or even against the rules. Is the fire risk really that great? Do many of you look down your noses at your slip neighbors for bbq'ing at the dock?

    Mainship and soft decks

Is there some sort of rule of thumb method for a novice to determine "soft decking"? Is the condition obvious or does it take a professional to discover this issue? I walked on two last weekend and didn't notice any indications but I was, and still am, skeptical.

    towing

What are some of the hazards and concerns of towing behind? How does the dinghy behave in following seas and when encountering big passing wakes?

    securing for hurricanes

Would it ever be prudent to take the boat out of the marina and run up one of the nearby coastal rivers for ten miles or so and just drop three or four anchors? Along with securing all deck gear and following the other recommended preparations of course. I don't yet have my liveaboard but if I...
