    Solo anchoring

learn to do it alone... best done with someone on board to help you in case of a problem... and yes, put a switch near the controls so you can maneuver the boat out of harm if need be while setting or pulling the anchor... get out there and try... best way to learn...

i also feel your pain. I have been slowly correcting it myself... but alas... I am afraid who ever ends up with my boat int he future will likely say the same about me...

    Deck Washdown pump....

I looked at those yesterday at the marine store. I may move that way in the future!

    Deck Washdown pump....

At least I find I can just replace the switch and not the whole pump!

    Deck Washdown pump....

I put in 3% drop. Over estimated the length. And used 10 amps (that's what the motor says it is on the label) It told me 10 gauge. So that's what I'll do. But I still think the pressure switch is fried.

    Deck Washdown pump....

I checked the in line strainer. No issue there, cuz there isnt one....LOL i took the rest of the housing apart and all looks good. The switch clicks when you push it in, not that that means anything other then that it isnt stuck i guess. I ran it at different elevation in relation to the...

    Deck Washdown pump....

I have NOT checked the inline strainer on the pump.... I did not realize they have one,, BUT now I will! that would make to much sense! If I am not out on the boa this weekend I will pull it apart again and check it... thanks for the good simple idea to try first! It may or may not solve...

    Deck Washdown pump....

I wish the pressure switch was a separate unit, but its built in. When i bought the pump it pumped as intended and turned on and off as the pressure need changed. this worked for a few seasons. It started failing little by little on the last sockeye trip. Essentially we use the pump...

    Deck Washdown pump....

It's not cycling rapidly. It runs for a minute or two then stops for a couple minutes the repeats. The water simply is right next to the pump. Same basic level. And it has worked for a coupe seasons. And is just recently acted up. I get the wiring now since it's explained above. But I am...

    Deck Washdown pump....

When you say upgrading size of wire, what would you recommend? It is mounted about 4 feet from the main panel. I believe i have 12 or possibly 14 going to it. And would too small of wiring cause the switch to over heat?

    Deck Washdown pump....

On my boat, i cant get a deck washdown pump to last more then a couple seasons. The pressure switch ALWAYS overheats and fails. the pump pumps for a while them shuts off for no reason or the pump just totally doesnt pump. I use it a lot fishing and all, but I would think they would last...

    "lifting" the cabin

No stress cracks do far. That's what I was concerned about as we. So I lifted it slowly. I have noticed that the water is directed the way I hoped better as time goes on. I believe the upward pressure is still lifting it a bit. Tomorrow I make a 3-4 hour run to get to an island where...

    "lifting" the cabin

One of my employees husband came by to help me and brought a portable hydraulic jack. The cylinder was about a foot tall and the pump was attached to it by a 3-4 foot hydraulic line. Made placing and moving the jack very easy cuz it was so light, not to mention you could be a "reasonable" safe...

    Heavy duty telescoping stern ladder

You want a ladder like this if you are having divers on and off your boat.. much easier to traverse with fins on... the going up and down ladders is the least of the dangers when diving...LOL

    "lifting" the cabin

Yes. Braced against the lower stringers that run the middle of the bottom of the boat. The same ones the engine mounts are on for the inside engine mounts. No noticeable vibration noticed from them. In fact it's less as the floor is much more stiff. Is that what you were asking?

Using a strap for your first dock line

I splice my own loops and end splices on ALL my rope. I HATE loose rope ends. Then I use heat shrink over the splices. Makes a nice clean end. And if I need to make a long rope to pull some find home, I can use the loops for secure connections and easy disassembly.

Using a strap for your first dock line

I leave my home dock lines on the dock. I have the lines with their eyes where I want them. Just pull up and slip the lines onto the cleats... I carry "away" lines on board...

    Raw Water problem

Yeah. I was thinking it was an air bible or the gasket or the impeller . But I didn't think the impeller would go bad as easily as it did. We changed the impeller and gasket a couple of times but never at the SAME time which threw off resolving the problem. All the advice on here lead me in...
