Breadbasket Update It's been a few months since Breadbasket arrived at Thieves Bay - Pender Island - B.C......... I've been busy cleaning her up going through the systems ..... runs like a diesel should although a little noisy .... Put her up on the Grid last week and replaced the prop(30x19)...

Breadbasket Specs...... O.K. here goes.. She's 26 ft with a 9.5 ft beam drawing about 3.5 feet of water...she has a two foot keel..... ford lehman 120 with a 3.9:1 reduction gear.... has one bearing(Cutless)...with a Monel 1 1/2 inch shaft... Was used as a cruiser and fishing/crabbing boat...

A Huge thank you to Eric for his words of wisdom re this issue ...... My 30x19 prop has suffered dezincification and needs to be replaced.... bottom line seems to be "Pitch Ratios" so when looking for an alternative sized prop I am basing my search on the PR of my olde prop which is .6333(...

wishbone The whole operation is stainless steel so aught to be pretty sturdy.... On the Breadbasket the anchor will be carried over/on the pipe rail .. near the bow ... there is a hydraulic winch(which I haven't tried yet) which will assist in pulling the anchor............ now that I'm on...

now boys....... here's the thing --- this anchor is set up much like the Danforth with the base of the fluke having "wings" on the base of both faces .. which direct the fluke into the bottom when dragged .... unlike the Danforth the single shank has been replaced with a modified triangular...

you think????? Is this from personal experience or ?????? Most people up this way use Danforths without too much problem ......... the anchor is 20 lbs and "Breadbasket" is 26 feet -- the tables say this anchor would be an overkill-which is a good thing !! :dance: So with a heavier"yoke" on...

la fluke This anchor is set up so that the fluke swivels about 35 degrees so flipping over is not going to happen ,,,,, the one that's available is stainless .. selling for $100 ............. too good a deal and looks like too good an anchor ... :cool:

Here's a new one.... These anchors were made I think in the 70s by Wishbone Marine Products of Pompano Beach Florida ...... anyone used one of these ?????? What was your experience ?????? thnx. john

An Update on Breadbasket Bottom painted--re-Zinced -- Surveyed --- Coolant changed ==== Oil changed and ready for her new home at Thieves Bay ...... Very pleased with Meadows Marine Surveyor Lachlan Mackenzie who passed along a fairly extensive "to- do - list" ... replace battery...

tomorrow..... An Aquadrive it is !!!!! Leaving Pender on the 0745 ferry for Swartz Bay to have Breadbasket Hauled--Pressure Washed then we'll bottom paint..during the process the boat will be surveyed(for insurance) then change the coolant.. Next day back in the water for a one hour cruise...
