    Weird AC arrangement...???

Thank you Maerin, for your input. We didn't notice the issue until recently when our daughter came to stay with us until college starts up for her Sept. 9th... I'd shut the aft cabin unit off in the evening when we were all watching TV since nobody is in there, and before long, her V-berth...

Dinghy decision 2 stroke vs 4 stroke

I have Sterling console dinghy as well, although mine wasn't a one-off and I assume made by the bathtub guys... Same set up with a 20 hp Taihatsu. It is an excellent unit and we use the heck out of it. We live aboard but at a marina, and while in port like to take evening marina cruises just...

    A Leak!

Wow... those aren't cheap! They look great though, I may have to break down and get one for my main bilge.

    Weird AC arrangement...???

On our new-to-us 44' Trojan, there are two reverse cycle marine AC units. Both of the compressors are located next to each other on starboard side of the engine room, and the water pump is in the forward bilge area under the galley floor. The main unit controls are located in the saloon and...

    Soap scum removal

We live aboard and have switched all of our products to the Mellaluca lines... the cleaners are fantastic and 100% safe and biodegradable. FYI... this is no longer a multi-level marketing program. You can just buy the products. They have a "after shower" spray that we use and there is no...

Newbie looking for a long range dive boat

In the locales you're intending on sailing... I'd certainly carry an AK-47 and plenty of ammo.

    Generator randomly shuts down

UPDATE: Finally was able to get to the genny issue on Thursday. The fault breaker was tripped, which trips for water temp, oil temp, oil press. Pulled the sound shield box and removed inlet side hose to water pump to inspect impeller without pulling... it looked really good after bumping start...

    Generator randomly shuts down

Following closely as I just had a genny problem on my 15kw Onan (Cummins)... A week ago I shut it down after noticing less water output and steam flashing indicating higher exhaust temps (at least in my mind). I pulled the intake pump and found the impeller in bad shape as anticipated. I had...

Lost Steering on the Tennessee River - Facepalm

    Offer accepted!

Man... that is one cool boat! I dig it! Been living on my 44 since March... I'm always asked if it was better or worse than expected. Better in every way. Here's to the survey and sea trial going well for you. Hope to meet up down in the Keys or elsewhere hopefully in 4-5 years if I can...

    Worked for me...

My Trojan has small riveted plates below the cap rail that say "SLING". This is the most common that I have seen over the years.

    New kid on the block

Ok, I understand... thought you were just having a problem with them boarding... I do kind of worry about the Golden getting older, as we have 3 steep stairs going down from main deck aft sundeck area to saloon... and then 3 steep stairs going down into the aft cabin where she sleeps with us...

    New kid on the block

As was clearly stated in the original post... :) Welcome Katy. We live aboard and have a golden retriever and a little pocket dog... maltese. We have a 44 Trojan fly bridge motor yacht with aft cabin so main deck is about 7' off the water, 5' off the dock. Our permanent covered slip has...

    Solo Cruising

Great point, Sandy. My wife and I live aboard now, and although most of the time we are at the dock because I work 5 days a week and she runs a small business in town, we can't imagine not being on the water. 2 days off on the hook is like a week of vacation as far as stress relief and total...

Just started shopping for the next boat

I concur with the above advice to not worry too much about the 42' size... That bit if intimidation factor will fade very quickly, whereas the thoughts of "damn... shoulda bought the more spacious boat" will run through your head every time you are onboard and lasts forever... or until you get...

    Fuel lines and mounting quiestion.

My 1983 Trojan 44 FBMY uses these (called Adel clamps in aviation, anyway...) clamps on the copper lines ran back then at the factory. All still good.

    43 ft president

KEVMAR... what is your mooring/docking situation? We have a 44 Trojan Flybridge MY very similar to your President. Our permanent dock is a covered slip with a wooden access stairway built which has small enclosed dock storage underneath. This was already with the boat when we bought her...
