    Quick question “what if?”

    Back in the 70's my grandparents boat's autopilot spun the wheel all the way to port. Completely random failure of some sort. Pulled the throttle back, placed in neutral and helped pick up the carnage. We continued the trip with my brother and I taking turns at the wheel.

    Hypothetical Gas Engine Question

    I'd hang a pair of outboards off the swimstep, pickle the engines, remove the existing prop's and have fun. This would allow the boat to be put back the way it was easily (resale). I would also route the throttles/gear change to the helm and drive it like a bulldozer.

    Does anyone have any third party numbers on the fuel consumption. I've done several extensive searches and never found anything but factory brochure quotes. A dyno chart, boat test, or even a truck test would do.
