Flybridge Enclosure - Sunbrella vs Vinyl

Getting a new enclosed flybridge cover. I need to select between sunbrella fabric vs vinyl fabric for the cover. Will be used primarily in the PNW in the summer and the SF bay area the rest of the year. Any opinions one way or the other? Thanks.

    Stern Rails and Ladder

Thanks for your responses Koliver. But, do you have any thought on my original question- Does it seem to be OK to tow with stern staples? And, was that an old ad?

    Stern Rails and Ladder

Yes. Is that an old ad? It doesn't show up in Crow's Nest current listings, nor on Yachtworld.

    Stern Rails and Ladder

Yes Kolliver, you're right. Its a 48' Offshore Pilothouse. The platform is 12'6" wide and about 30" deep. Pretty thick (the yard says it's plenty thick and the staples will be very sturdy) Made of fiberglass.

    Stern Rails and Ladder

I'll want to add add stern rails/staples to my new/used boat's swim platform and would appreciate your thoughts. I see some boats where there are 2, 3 or 4 going across the stern. Some with small gaps between them and some with large gaps between them. My first reason for them is safety, and...

    Spring has sprung

That's hilarious! Now I can't stop laughing! At first I thought you were crazy as she looked pretty good to me! And then I saw it.

    Reasonable or Nit-Pickey?

*I feel great about the boat and have no intentions of backing out. I was just looking for advice. Not that I don't trust my broker with these types of questions. It's just that I trust you all a little more.

    Reasonable or Nit-Pickey?

Thanks for all of the replies so far. Always a help. The canvas I did know about. The broker told me maybe on the bottom paint, but we wouldn't know until the boat was out of the water. I agree that the liferaft certification should have been checked before the offer, but I ignorantly didn't...

    Reasonable or Nit-Pickey?

    * The deal on my new (to me) boat should close early next week. Engine survey has been done and the hull survey is scheduled for this Thursday. My broker says that after the surveys, we can ask for a price reduction based on any deficiencies, within reason. So far the things I've noticed are -...

    Engine Room Storage

Engine survey good. Hull survey in a couple of days. The boat's in great shape so we don't see anything that can stop the process, but, I guess you never know. We should have it by, hopefully, next weekend. Anybody ever store cases of coke (never beer, I already know that), bottled water, etc...

    Engine Room Storage

I have a little extra space in my engine room, and was wondering what items you store (or would consider storing) in your engine room (secured properly of course)? And what items would you never store there because of the environment (smells, heat etc.)? *

    PNW Summer Berthing

Thanks to everyone. It's been a big help! I do like the idea of Seattle and my wife would prefer it. It's a great town and obviously a lot easier access to SeaTac. Questions - 1. Realistically, how long would it take to get to the San Juans at around 10 knots? 2. Are there nice places to stay...

Oops! Forgot that. It's a 48' Offshore Pilothouse. LOA 51'

    PNW Summer Berthing

In my perfect little world, we'll be bringing our boat up to the PNW in late May and bringing it back to the SF bay area in late September. We plan to fly back and forth a couple of times each month (not fun) and spend a couple of weeks each trip cruising the islands (both San Juan and Gulf) and...

    How Slow Can I Go?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm already feeling better about the boat. Kev - We've looked at several Bayliners and really liked the layout and such - but no full walk -around decks Tom - we've been on 35+ boats already and like many of them, but they just don't quite meet everything on...

    How Slow Can I Go?

I'm a newbie, but have been lurking for a while now. The amount I've learned from all of you is invaluable. And, for that I thank you ahead of time. * Here's my situation - My wife and I have always been boaters, but primarily on lakes, and me sailing in San Francisco bay. We've decided it's...
