    Fu Hwa Construction/trawlers

We have a 42 FuHwa, 1986. They were building boats in Taiwan in the 70's and 80's and exporting them to the US as Nova Sundeck, or Marine Trader. If you bought them direct from Taiwan as ours was, it stayed registered with that name.

Fu Hwa built boats circa 1989 quality

Many of the boats we know as Nova Sundeck, Seahorse, Pacific Trawler were built in the Fu Hwa yard. Ours was imported along with 4 others by the original owner, he sold the other 4 for profit and thus had his boat for free. He kept meticulous maintenance logs, fixed the few window leaks as...

PT 35 Sundeck trawler 1985 info

I feel like our boat is the same, but a 42. Sundeck built in Taiwan 1985 in the Fu Hwa yard, haven't found many differences between the Nova or the PT with our boat, I think they may be built by the same builders

    Your favorite river

The Sassafrass is a beauty with a happy ending at the harbor at Georgetown. Chester River is totally unspoiled, the Wye is lovely as well.

Just Bought a Marine Trader 40

We are planning to spend Nov and Dec in the New Bern area and cruise to SC/Ga area for Jan-March. Hubby is retired airline so we can fly in and out for long weekends etc since I am still working. We winterized in the slip this year and it was a pain, the thought of winter getaway whenever we...

    Present 42 Roll Call

Our FuHwa Sundeck is so close in design to Forkliftt's sundeck I often wonder if she is from the same yard.

    Hello.....From North Carolina

We are thinking of New Bern next winter as an alternative to winterizing and staying in the Chesapeake. We are going to drive down in April and have a look around.

How to find a good yacht broker

We used Mike and Mary from Paradise Yachts as a buyers broker when we purchased our boat last winter. They were professional, honest and worked hard for us. I would recommend them.

    Potomac River to DC

We took a beautiful 10 day fall cruise up the Potomac to D.C. Even tho' I grew up in the DC area the journey was through unknown territory from Kent Narrows. Our itinerary was Solomon's, Colonial Beach, VA, Gangplank Marina in downtown DC, Old Town Alexandria and then back down. We had some...

Nova Heritage East,,,, Well made ???

Our Fu Hwa is essentially the same boat. 1986 42 w/ twin Volvos, sundeck. She had a cockpit which we did not see on many in our search. She was so well loved and cared for she just gleamed. We enclosed the flybridge but left the sundeck open. We worried about bugs in the summer on the...

Introducing the family via a charter vacation?

We did our first bare boat from St Thomas USVI thru "trawlers in paradise" on a 46 GB. Not sure if they are still there but we loved the boat and found the VI to be boating for "dummies" with all the moorings and a dinghy. We were hooked.

Champagne Trawler Taste on a Beer Budget

Absolutely bareboat charter a week somewhere first. We did the Virgin Islands on a Grand Banks but the Chesapeake has some nice options. It gives you some real life chances to see what you like or don't like. In our case it gave us an incurable disease, called "trawlering". We like you...
