    Marlow?

Mainship did build a few 43' trawlers ( LOA almost 48') right before they went under. They had twin 440 or 540 hp diesels and started at around 500k. Not sure how many they sold but they looked really nice on paper. https://www.powerandmotoryacht.com/boat-tests/mainship-43-trawler-0

Where would you base your boat

Cape Coral, FL. Just west of Ft Myers, we have over 400 miles of canals, many with Gulf access, no bridges. Canal front houses can be had for under 500k with docks and lifts. Condos on the the water at 150-300k We moved here 4 years ago from Buffalo and love it. Our trawler stays up...

    Mystery Oil

Slightly off topic, but relevant. My 2 stroke 70hp Johnson on my FL boat had a gummed up carb that prevented the boat from going up on plane. Per a youtube video (what else!) I ran a pint of seafoam mixed into one gallon of pre-mix gas through the engine. It worked as stated in the video...

    Mainship 390 2003 w/single Yanmar

We had the mast hinged on our 1997 MS350 in 2003. The yard cut it at about halfway up, making it real easy to single hand it up or down. Total cost was $1,800. They even made a little stand for it as well that it rests on when in the down position. We cruise the Erie Canal every year so the...

Deck box onboard the Mainship 390

We have a big Igloo fish cooler for a dock box on the far starboard side. We have a cushion on it and people sit on all the time with no impact on the boats behaviour.

    390T and NY canals

Hudson to Oswego you will be fine, however to go further west or to Lake Champlain you will need to get your mast hinged. We had ours done by a local marina in 2003, it was less than a few boat bucks. They cut and hinged ours in the middle so it's very easy for one person to lower and raise.

    Haul-out time for ua

Our first season as full time liveaboards came to an end yesterday. Missy is now winterized, shrink wrapped and ready for her long winter's nap. Admiral and I are off to Cape Coral and our new to us condo. Wishing all the best to everyone that is still afloat and cruising.

    Great Galley Gadgets

Tried it last night and it did run just fine off the MSW inverter, a Heart Freedom 10.

    Great Galley Gadgets

I'll try tonight and let you know. The only thing so far I have found that won't run off the inverter is our heated mattress pad. We have a Heart Freedom 10 with a Link 2000.

    Great Galley Gadgets

We have one and love it! However our favorite gadget is the Induction cooktop, we bought this one from Amazon and haven't used our Princess range once since we got it. Heats instantly and has a power display in watts. You can cook on as little as 200 watts all the way up to 1300.

    Why Do Brokers Bash Bayliner?

I believe that boat sunk at the dock during a bad snowstorm. The owner detailed his refurb including the smaller engine selection on the Bayliner forum. There was a lot of feedback on this, many people saying that it would be hard to resell with the smaller engines.

    Why Do Brokers Bash Bayliner?

Always "a friend of mine", any first hand accounts here? I have to disagree with the above, I had a 1984 16' Bay that I fished for 11 years on Lake Ontario. This boat was out in weather many times that no 16' should have been in. I did have problems with seats breaking lose, cabin bulkhead...

    Galley aft versus saloon aft

They made that move on the Mainship 400 from the 390. I think the biggest reason for doing that is to add a dinette. A dinette astern would get in the way of the entry and people flow.

    sliding glass doors?

Another benefit of the slider is the screen door. With the center forward window open (we have a screen on that too) you can leave the slider open and get some great ventilation with NO BUGS. Also visibility astern when operating from the lower station is very good.

    sliding glass doors?

We have that boat (mainship 350/390) and love the doors. The boat has been all over the Great Lakes, ICW, the loop and even to the Bahamas. She has seen waves over 8' and the sliders were never a problem. Gives a great view astern and very easy to get in and out of the boat. Remember, these...

The 400 would be another good option.

    Inverter and Water Heater

Instead of buying another inverter, get a good size charger. Split the bank with a 1-2-Both switch, then you can charge one side with the inverter and one side with the charger. Thats what we do, works good.

    Mainship 390 with cat 3126

Cat specifically warns against using multi-grade in both the 3116 and 3126 as the blowby from the multi-vis can lead to aftercooler fouling. Our 1997 manual does specify the use of 15w-40, which we used for some years. They changed the specs somewhere around 2000 or so.

Documentation Dysfunction – Serious Issue for Buyers and Sellers

NY has the same requirements. Stickers with no numbers on the hull.

Documentation Dysfunction – Serious Issue for Buyers and Sellers

If you are in NY, you need to get your boat registered with the DMV and get the hull stickers. If you get stopped, I would think that your NYS registration would be sufficient to make any LEO or Coastie happy.

Is there a Bus from Tonawanda to Niagara Falls?

Enjoy your stay! We are about 10 miles south of you at Beaver Island State Park. Plenty of transient slips here in a nice park with a beach and golf course if you decide to take a trip down the river. $25 per night incl electric.

    Mainship 47?

Ooops, I was thinking of the 41' Grand Salon. That 47 has diesels and does look nice. Would wonder why it needed majors on both engines after only 2,000 hours.

    NY State tomorrow

We are live-aboards on the Niagara River, let me know if you need any local info or help when you get to Tonawanda. Have a great trip!

    Mainship 47?

Most of them were built with twin gas big blocks. Not a very economical choice for a long range cruiser. These boats have huge saloons, I would classify them as a floating condo.
