The "Trawler" part of "Swift Trawler?"

I sailed planing boats before (and sailing boats too). The behaviour of my ST44 when cruising at 7/9 knots is completely different! She sails damn well, even in rough seas: a thing impossible to do with a "normal" planing hull. Usually I cruise at 7 to 9 knots, going up do 16-20 only in long...

What happened to the Swift Trawler?

I own a MY 2019 ST44: do you think there's something new/improved on 2020 models? Can you tell usa more? Thanks

    ST44 cockpit bench

I also use plastic bins with sealeable top, but this is not the best! Sealing the upper lid should not be a big issue: the problem are bottom and rear panel, that need to be closed totally. Actually, I'm in the riubber gasket business: if I can find out a shaoe that can seal the upper lid, I...

    ST44 cockpit bench

Am I the only one that is disappointed with the cockpit (and flybridge..) bench not being waterproofed? Has anyone faced and solved this? A simple caulking will not be final solution, and probably the best way is to remove the bench, having it totally closed with fiberglass or plywood, and...

    A/C heating issue?

Thanks everyone. My ST44 is new (2 months) so I'd rather have a pro check for problems than void the warranty

    A/C heating issue?

Hy everybody, on my ST44 i noticed that while the saloon a/c in heat mode blows out pretty hot air, the two staterooms units don't. The air flowing out in the master stateroom is nearly cold, and the room temp never goes over 15 degree C. The water flow seems good: any suggestion?

    ST44 and Steadying Sail

Yes Paul, that's common in Croatian or greek waters. Not so common elsewhere (Corsica, south France..). That's where a staysail comes handy!

    New ST47 Model

I agree. When I placed the ordere for my ST44, last april, I had the opportunity to have a quick glance at pre-release drawings and renderings of the 47. I ended up confirming the 44, the 47 looking too much "modern" to me.

    ST44 and Steadying Sail

MurrayM thanks, this is exactly what I mean. If this little tarp works well, I'll definitly go for it and test if the mast load doesn't seem too high. Thanks again

    ST44 and Steadying Sail

BandB roll is a different subject, and stabilizers the optimum solution. but nothing to do with tacking at anchor: I must say that I have no experience with trawlers till now, only with sailing boats. Maybe trawlers will have less troubles!

Confirmed: no significant tide in the Med. I completely agree with you, but hope to find a (partial?) solution. Thanks

    ST44 and Steadying Sail

Right. I NEVER let the chain load directly on windlass, always anchor lock. Strong winds means to me more than 40 knots. In 35 more years of med cruising, I often faced situation where 25kgs Delta anchor with 6/7 scopes of 10mm chains have been greatly improved by the staisail trick!

    ST44 and Steadying Sail

In my experience leaving the boat free to tack left and right for a long time (e.g. all night long) in strong wid conditions, may lead the anchor to drag, and even to a "deanchoring" (pls forgive my bad american). Here in the med it is not uncommon to rig a staysail just to prevent this to...

    ST44 and Steadying Sail

Waiting for my new ST44 arrival (october) I'm just wondering if there's any way to prevent the boat "tacking" left and right while at anchor. I'm used to sailboats, and normally I keep a little mizzen sail to prevent this: do you think that the mast on the ST44 is strong enough to rig a small...

    Greetings from Italy

Hy everybody! a few days ago we signed for our new Trawler, a Beneteau ST 44 Gulf Stream Edition. Coming from 30 and more years of sailing boat, this will be quite an experience for us, cruising the Med! Hope to find some clues, tips and give back my experiences!
