    Insurance question

Sue their lying butts. Can also contact the insurance commissioner in their state. Otherwise, just go after the owner. It's HIS problem.

    Where to live?

We dock at Riviera Beach City Marina, about the closest you can get to the Bahamas right through the nearby cut. Reasonable is hard to define, but, compared to most of the surrounding spots, RBCM is significantly less AND tolerates liveaboards.

Very basic and stoopit questions about costs...

Some observations after living aboard for a number of years now. We HAVE the dough to fix stuff. BUT that doesn't automatically eviscerate the angst! We have the dough because we were cautious and conscious as well as conscientious for years. And you don't instantly LOSE those traits even if...

I feel sorry for this couple....

Way past time for a fire. Suggested donating it for a burn exercise to the local fire department. This is just NUTS.

    Very sad experience

What about complaining to the local DA about bait and switch fraudulent tactics? Even if it won't work, might put a little pressure on the management.

Where to mount my Magma Catalina grill

Have you already used the Magma? I'd note they have a propensity for mess underneath, particularly if what you're grilling is fatty/oily and gets to burning. Not especially worried about fire so much as mess.

Very basic and stoopit questions about costs...

Seems to me you can find some very decent cruising trawlers around half or so from what you're quoting. Yes, might be older, but will bet you'll probably be spending about the same keeping an older boat afloat as the more expensive newer ones. They ALL suck cash.

    pepper balls

And slingshots And crossbows BUT...be VERY careful with pepperballs. They're very delicate and will REALLY mess you up if you accidentally pop one on yourself. Some people's throats can even close down to the point of not being able to breathe. Bahamas: can bring in 3 guns and 150 rounds...

On our fourth Acu Rite. Have not been that reliable. Company does honor returns. About to send them another one back. This time not showing wind direction. All have failed in different manners.

    USCG Captain's License

Have taken the training for captain's license but never did the paperwork. Why? Because we've been TOLD that once you have the card and are on someone else's boat, YOU still have serious responsibilities and can be held liable in certain instances. True???

    Incident at fuel dock

Seems like a simple solution would be building a shutoff sensor onto the dispensing hose. No pumping if not IN the fill hole.

    Introduce Myself

Two inches away from our marina in Palm Beach, Florida, condos start at a million plus, plus, plus. Here, we're right on the ICW and dock rates with electric are under 2K a month. Even if you never move your vessel and just do enough maintenance to keep it afloat and the A/C a-workin, it's...

    My first Long Range Cruiser

Love the Hatteras. We've got an almost clone, the Vantare 64. Made in Taiwan in '88. (Except on the electrical panel it says MAPE in Taiwan) Almost the perfect vessel for us. Two crew and invited guests.
