    Foodie

With two grills, I would focus on things which would keep you with your guests. Salad pre tossed with antipasto (capicolla, onion, olives, artichoke hearts, etc.). Shrimp skewered with bacon and mushrooms, marinated in orange juice and spices, sliced summer squash marinated in balsamic vinegar...

    Hello from Peterborough

Welcome to the party. I also am new here, and we just bought our first major boat. 40' Cheoy Lee LRC. Now getting our house sold to start cruising. Advice I received in our search was to get clear on what we needed to be comfortable, and how small a boat could we find which met or exceeded...

I decided yesterday to shop for a trawler...

Separate beds For the separate twin / full beds in the same cabin, you might look at a Grand Banks 42 or a DeFever 41 trawler or Passagemaker (slightly different boats / hulls despite sharing nominal length). For decent beds in separate cabins, I did not see them in my own searches in boats...

    Taking the Plunge

Moderator attention? Would it be possible to help out a former forum member by copying the craigslist ad above to the classifieds thread, along with a couple of other posts to help identify the boat? Thanks, John Sage

For Sale: 2017 12" RIB inflatable 20 HP w console

Size ? And price? Chris, sorry the boat was the wrong size. I have had that problem as well many times, being 6'4" and 350#. I checked the makers web site snd found an 11' and a 13', but not a 12. Was this a special order? How much would it cost, and do you think that I would fit in it? Thanks

    She says "size doesn't matter"

Size and guesstimates We are new to trawlers, having just bought our first, a Cheoy Lee 40 LRC, but we went through the same "how big does it have to be, and how small can it be" dance in narrowing our search. We had camped in everything from an oilcloth and wool blankets to a 12 x 20 tent...

2003 Grand Banks 42 Europa purchase help

Survey options You mentioned that it might be hard to find a surveyor, you might be able, either yourself or with the help of a mechanic, do an initial survey yourself, and import a professional if you find problems and still want to proceed. The web site Welcome To Property and Casualty...

New Owner of 1987 Island Gypsy 36

New boat mysteries You may need to bring in a mechanical type person to sort out what you have and how it is set up. I was fortunate in that my PO stayed on for a week after the sale to teach me about our new boat and her systems. A book that I am working my way through which looks like it...

    Marina or Shipyard recommendation, Please

Indiantown Call Indiantown Marina about the type of work you intend to do. They allow all types of DIY in the field areas, but only non-messy work ?? on the pavement, where there is electric available. The marina is inland fron the Port St Lucie lock, and is about 20' above sea level. Many...

    Propeller Pitch

Pitch difference I have a similar condition on La Vita Dolce, a 1986 Cheoy Lee 40 with Lehman 135s. Apparently there wasn't a 2 to 1 left hand trans available when she was built, so the diffrrence was made up on the prop. My Port engine has a 1.91 to 1 ratio. PO had contacted the factory about...

Best sailor's knife for on board

Working knife For the past 30+ years, one of my requirements for a knife has been the ability to close it one handed as well as open it that way. I second the folding sheepsfoot / EMT rescue blades, and while I do like the Spyderco knives, they are two-handed to close. I have used a Gerber...

if price is any indication of quality...

A little heavy for me I looked at the specs for this overpriced anchor and the weight was 606#, not 60. A little more than my pulpit will carry. Maybe with a bigger boat?

Heads The decision to do something about the heads is forced by the condition of the existing drain plumbingof the aft head, all behind cabinets or tanks. This drain line has been plugged for years. PO used it as a urinal, draining directly overboard, with the forward head only draining to the...

    In at the deep end

Hi all. Longish time lurker, retired and had thought about getting a boat for a while. We had narrowed the field down to a few makes and sizes, and early this month decided on a road trip to go aboard such of them as were for sale around the Southeast. We were not intending to actually buy a...
