First Trawler - Marine Trader 50

Welcome aboard. A great boat, which should serve you well for many years. You might consider using an Excel type spreadsheet to collect the info about your boat as you gather it. Pics, text, and numbers are easily entered, and organized. In the Library here, or on internet? is the databases...

    Hello Everyone

Welcome aboard. We thought we had things reduced to just what we needed for the boat, but no. Some still in storage. :-( Happy cruising. John

NEW owner of a 42' Nova Sundeck, (1989)

For the through- hulls, you might paint the area immediately around them in a bright yellow, in case you have to send someone else to close them. Nigel Calders' Boatowners Mechanical and Electrical Handbook is as close to an owners' manual as you are likely to find. His Marine Diesel Engines is...

New member - CHB 34 owner, Nick F

Welcome aboard. The shaft coupling problem might be related to the shaft tube leak. If the tube is leaking, it also may not be properly supporting the shaft, and motion of the shaft can break the coupling. Good luck on your projects. Post pics. JohnS

    Hello

Great picture. My experience with canoes has usually been from an inverted position. Welcome aboard. Boats and boating will never be cheap, but the more you can do, the less you have to pay to others. You have plenty of time for your boat search, so start looking at what might fit your needs...

    looking for tri-cabin trawler

Yachtworld tends to have the nicer, more expensive boats. Search 45' trawler for sale and get other places to search. Boattrader.com, boats.com, iboats.com and others can be useful. Try to find the "advanced search" tab, so that you can set a range of size and price. Good luck in your search...

Sailor and Future Stink boat owner

That Seaton has been for sale for 2+ years at that price. They might be open to a screaming low-ball offer, or not. :-) I suspect that either the pictures do not reflect the condition, or that the engine is no longer supported as to parts. JohnS

Newbie looking for information an interior headroom

We found a good combination of headroom and living space on our Cheoy Lee 40 LRC, though I am only 6'4", the saloon and master bedroom are 6'6"+. You might look at the Cheoy Lee in the 50'+ LRC lune and see what they look like. Most of the blue water boats will be MUCH more expensive than the...

    New Bed

Check the descriptions and the reviews for the actual firmness of the mattress. One makers medium can be harder than anothers firm. Ours was labled Ultra Plush, but the reviews led me to believe the firmness was about medium, which it was. Our bed platform tapers to the foot, and is shorter than...

    Purchasing without brokers

May not be a problem in MD, but Florida treats brokered sales much better than by owner boat sales. Brokered sales have 180 days (with extension) to get out of state before sales tax is due to Florida. By owner sales are taxed the day of the sale. JohnS

    Hello Boating People

Welcome aboard. I worked offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico back in the days. It is good to take time to find out what you need and want in a boat. Much like a house, it is a major decision, but instead of "neighborhood" it will be crusing areas which may focus or limit your choices. Ghere...

Welcome aboard. It may be worthwhile to web search for interesting boats, and where/ when possible, get aboard some possibilities at MDR, Long Beach, Newport, Dana Point, or San Diego to see how they might fit and feel to you. The Florida boaters certificate course is online, and you could find...

    Tips on Head Replacement

When I had the lines replaced on our boat with the 1.5 saniflex, the guys put a hose barb between the old and new, used twisted wire instead of clamps, and pulled it through cutting off a foot or so of the old hose at a time. Second on the Marine Elegance. JohnS

Okay! Uncle! UNCLE! I need AC

Our new 16k Dometic was choking for lack of cooling water, and as we had to come out to replace a depth sounder sending unit, I checked the through hill, found it was 1/2", and changed it out for a 3/4. Redoing the pipe and hoses to 3/4, I found that the real problembwas that the PO had...
