    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

I am trying to find the relay, the solenoid seems to be functioning fine. With the engine running I can shut it down locally at the engine by pulling the plug leading to the solenoid (killing power). There must be a relay that both the upper and lower bridge switches connect to but I can’t seem...

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

Ok thanks for the tip, I will give it a try but if there is a relay between the switch and the solenoid and the relay is faulty then this won’t confirm the switch is bag or good. Still worth a try though Rob

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

Thanks for all the input so far, I had the chance a few weeks ago to do a bit of trouble shooting and found this. Power to the solenoid is obviously there as the engine starts and runs fine. When I disconnect the plug to the solenoid the engine stops so I thought it was the switch at the helm...

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

No I don’t think mine is the same, it used to shut down using the ignition switch on the console. Thanks Rob

    Remote Battery Switch

I believe that’s what I’m trying to do by separating the thrusters from the house and keeping them on the same battery as the starter. Thanks for your thoughts, I did not consider the electric noise (a bit above my knowledge at this point).

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

Hey everyone I have a couple questions that I need help answering if you don’t mind. First the engine I have in my 34’ 2007 Mainship Trawler is the Yanmar 6LPA-STP. I have an issue with shutting down the engine from the ignition switch. It’s a three way switch which is normally in the run...

    Remote Battery Switch

Yes I will need to do a test along side to see if this will cause the engine to shut down. Thanks again for the advice

    Remote Battery Switch

Thanks for the info and I think I will give that a shot to see how things work. My alternator charges both banks through an automatic battery combiner so in theory this should work.

    Remote Battery Switch

Hey thanks guys, all good points to consider and I’m going to run some tests on power usage as recommended. What are the thoughts on having your thrusters and engine start on the same battery? To me that seems like it may fix most of my issues. The boat is running 95% of the time when using the...

    Remote Battery Switch

Yes they are close enough and I used 4/00 cable so no line loss there. I know that just adding a battery would work but space is an issue as well as all the batteries are about 4 years old now so kinda did not want to start introducing new batteries. When they are done i would want to change...

    Remote Battery Switch

Hi everyone! Looking for a bit help on this Remote Battery Switch. I just finished upgrading my alternator to a Balmar 150A with an external regulator and of course all the extra stuff that goes along with an upgrade such as that. Along the way I decided to combine my thruster battery into my...

    Need help

Thanks guys, I haven’t had the time to get back to the boat this week to check. I have tried already to pry them thinking that they were the same as the others in the boat (the ones with wings and springs) but no joy with that unfortunately. Rob

    Boat Insurance in Canada

We were with Dolphin for the first year and then they hiked up the rates (last year) for no apparent reason. We shopped around and were able to get a policy for the same price as previous years with Western Financial Group. mailto:marine@westernfg.ca Rob

How Heavy of an Anchor for MS 34' Pilot

I have a MS 34 Trawler (2007) and I use a 66lb Bruce anchor with 300’ of 5/16 G4 chain. The windless does work a bit at depths over 100’ but has always gotten the pick home. This may seem like overkill but piece of mind is worth it! One thing to note is the size/type of chain. Lewmar is a UK...

    Need a new heater

Hi everyone I’m looking for a bit of advise. I have a 34 Mainship Trawler and it has a Espar D4 12v heater that needs a new blower motor and as I found out today the unit has over 6000 hours on it! The repair shop is recommending a new unit because if/when the control unit fails the cost would...

    Raw Water Wash down installation

Hi all I have a 34' Mainship and want to install a raw water wash down pump with a deck fitting to connect a hose. Before i start cutting holes in the boat I thought I would see where the best location for the fitting to attach the hose would be. I have two locations that seem logical, up near...
