Victoria, BC to the Sea of Cortez

We're on our way to Ensenada right now, just passed Los Coronados islands. The swells are about 5-6' but are pretty gentle (long period). Beautiful day on the water so far, ahead of tomorrow's blow. I can taste the dollar tacos already.

Great idea for the CP with closed seacock. We're going to give that a go. Thanks Peggy!

    Cleaning stinking drains

Hey guys, Our galley sink drain is starting to emit a funky odor. It drains just below the waterline so is exposed to seawater. Looking for recommendations on the best thing to use to clean and deodorize. Thanks

    Repair to torn off bracket

It won't have heavy loads in the future because sometimes I learn from my mistakes. Not always, just sometimes. I'm going with drilling the holes out and filling them in with epoxy. I'll report back. Thanks guys

    Repair to torn off bracket

There's no backing plate, just machine screws into the fiberglass.

    Repair to torn off bracket

I wouldn't call it a freak accident, I would call it a freak who had an accident. I had a line attached to this that was attached to the boom winch to guide the dinghy. As I was raising the boom I didn't realize I had no slack on the line and tore it out. I should have been paying more...

    Repair to torn off bracket

Hey gang, Had a bit of a mishap yesterday and tore this bracket off. What is the best way to reseat and repair this? There is some gel coat damage as can be seen here. I was thinking about filling it in with MarineTex, sanding smooth, drilling new holes and reattaching. What say you...

    Interior furniture questions...

We just bought a Stressless recliner for the boss yesterday. It fits very well and is really comfortable, not that I'm ever going to get to use it. It's kind of spendy but I think it's going to hold up well with stainless and plastic parts and a 10 year warranty.

    State based health care insurance

One problem I see is that everyone, including health insurance brokers, kind of tweak out when you tell them you have no real physical location/address and are on the move. Makes it 'interesting '☺️

    State based health care insurance

We are also covered for emergency services when out of the country on vacation. Who do you use for out of country emergency insurance? I'll check with BX. Thanks

    State based health care insurance

Curious what liveaboards do about state based health insurance when everything seems to be based on your physical address, whether or not you actually live there. We're currently ID residents, living in CA for the winter, moving on to points north when the weather gets warmer. All insurance...

    Teaching captain in San Diego

Does anyone have recommendations for a captain in the San Diego area that could help us learn on our new to us N46? The wife and I are fairly green and need some education. Thanks

    Tools aboard

Thanks for answering the original question Larry and ksanders. I'll put the skill saw in the 'sell everything' pile. Whew! We're getting closer all the time.

    Tools aboard

I'm contemplating what tools to bring to our new to us boat. We'll be living aboard so space does enter the equation. I'm wondering who carries a Skilsaw. I can think of things I would use it for but also think a multi-tool and Sawzall might do the trick, and then some. Thoughts?

How do TF'ers go about removing a painted on name, on Gelcoat? Thanks as always

    Your Best Technique or Invention

I think that's great plan and one we plan to use as we try to close a deal on a N46. There are many bells and whistles that I think we can be without. Just need to spend some time on the boat to find out what's really important to us. We'll see, survey and mechanics reports come in next week!

    Ensenada, MX

How far south are you going? Is this an annual thing for you? Maybe we'll see you there in November. Cheers

    Ensenada, MX

Hotel Coral and Marina advertises $1.80/ft ($828 for 46') while Ensenada Cruiseport Village says $455/month for my 46' boat. Quite a difference. Anyone have experience with either?

    Ensenada, MX

We're talking about heading down to Ensenada for a month or so this winter. Having not been there, I was interested in opinions about the marinas, possibly getting some work done (new swim platform) and general feel for the place. Cheers

Sunchaser, What were the problems with the blue hulls? I'm asking because we're considering one. Thanks

    PNW buyers broker redo

We're getting closer to being trawler owners and would like to find a good buyers broker to help us through the process. We're new to this so need someone who can subjectively guide us. Any recommendations for the PNW area? Thanks
