    Alaska for the summer!

NB, I agree with your plan. There are obvious reasons the major cruise lines of the world pass through BC without stopping and into Alaskan waters. Okay, I am now ducking from the tomatoes thrown at me from the BC folks (please remove tomatoes from the can before throwing).

What skill did you pass on to your kids?

To my sons: If you buy a sport car made damn sure it is red When you sits down to play poker, if after five minutes you don't know who the fool is it is time to leave When it comes to women make damn sure you are thinking with the right head. The boys are fine

Which one? Nordic Tug or Taiwanese Trawler.

The NT 32 has very narrow side decks. This is one of the reasons we bought the Eagle 32, 6" more beam and wider side decks. Good luck on the buying and safe travels.

    Honda 2.3 4 stroke outboard

I have the older 2.0 Honda. Runs smooth and being air cooled makes for low maintance. Draining the carb at season end is a good idea. We use it on an 8 foot inflatable.

    Heading to Alaska, part 2.

Agree, Dundas Bay is nice. It is also part of Glacier Bay National Park, but not nearly as spectacular as Glacier Bay.

    Heading to Alaska, part 2.

Go to Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve web page, click on Private Boating in Glacier Bay. We have also call Barlet Cove ch 16, when near the bay to inquire about openings. They often have openings for a day or two due to cancellations, but don't count on it. Also, if you have a permit and...

    Heading to Alaska, part 2.

Glacier Bay is the pearl of SE Alaska and perhaps all of Alaska. A US Park Service permit is required for a boat to enter the bay. The bay has two major arms and is seventy miles long. It will take several days to see the bay. Another great way to see the bay in one day is to fly (float plane)...

    Transpac Eagle 32

Tim, I am no expert on engines. The only 4 cylinder I owner was a yanmar and it did not have a shaking problem. I have only done one repower, an 8.2 to a Perkins Sabra 6 cylinder. I have noted Bill and Stella post on this site and are most knowledgable about small engines. The 32 is a much...

Anyone apprehensive about taking a single screw trawler to Alaska in the IP?

Been doing it since 1986, no problems. The log infested waters of BC have taken their toll on many twins.
