Air in fuel line FL 135

New fuel tanks may have debris from drilling the holes for fittings. I have seen this before and the long curly metal debris will lodge in the fuel lines and not make it to the filters. The engine will run like it is sucking air. Another way to check for air in fuel lines is to temporarily...

Would you be concerned if your boat sat in mud at low tide?

Depends, we have a single screw with a full shoe and it should not be a problem. Even with this configuration I much prefer to never ground out. Twins are a much different issue.

    Steering a single

If you have some distance to back down learn to let the rudder catch. Each boat has individual characteristics and it just takes time to learn them. There are books and videos available on this topic.

We use US AT&T and call the carrier for a rate. It is less expensive then the roaming fees. We also use the Delorme for remote communication. We winter stored our boat at Mosquito Creek and will be heading north to Alaska this next week.

Air in fuel line FL 135

I know of Racor filters that suck air. Tried new gaskets on the filters that did not fix the problem. Only fix was to throw the entire unit away.

If the exhaust manifold from a SP 135 will fit the 120 I believe I know of one at a shop here. Let me know and I will check with the shop.

    Exhaust extension

Salisbury made a rubber type elbow that routed the exhaust into the water. I believe it was called the Salisbury Hydo-vac silencer. It worked as a muffler and put the stinky exhaust into the water. There were a few holes in it just above the water line probably to let the engine idle and reduce...

    Ford Lehman 120 oil coolers

Marin, Thank you for the history of FL 120. We currently have the FL SP 135 and have never had a serious issue with the base engine. I have been told that the FL 120 has a potential cooling issue with number six hole and injector pump also a potential problem. It is my understanding the the SP...

    Power down-grade

Our FL 135 SP will burn 1.7 gal @ 1600 RPM and produce 6.5 knots. The 4 cylinder FL has a larger flywheel then the 6 cylinder in an attempt to make it run smooth. I agree, slow down to save on fuel.
