I believe some have change the on engine filters to Baldwin BF790 spin on which are 20 micron. Two questions, does the BF790 function well as the final filter and if so what micron size and make are the primary filters? Is there a 5 or 10 micron spin on compatable with the DP 1000 base?

We were in Shearwater May 2003 and waves were washing over the dock. The wind blew hard and one boat had a cleat pull out.

I owned one with the head upgrade that still went bad. Perhaps this is one of the worse engines ever made and widely distributed.

I put 4000 hours on a 3208 N and only had one problem. The tack welds on the raw water pump failed causing the two halves of the pully to separate. The welds were very poorly done.

The fish tail or any wedge shape addition to the aft potion of the rudder will help. I have seen a 4X10 ripped diagonally to create the wedge and through bolted on the rudder work well.

I have heard of using wrought iron furniture paint. Provides multi year protection.

If the bore scope finds dead fish this boat just might have been sunk.

Another vote for Sterling using the roll and tip method. It is also great paint to spray for aircraft.

It appears that perhaps Lehman used two different mounts for the oil filters on the SP 135. Not all of the filters listed are the same size and not all have the same thread.

My engine (sp 135) takes 14.5 quarts to the high mark on the dip stick. I usually buy the oil filter at Napa, part number 551843, but they no longer stock the filter. Is there another source for the oil filter?

Fishing in Juneau area is not looking good. The state has shut down fishing for king salmon in the Juneau area.

Come to Sitka and we will go whale watching on our Eagle 32.
