Quantum Radome Spins but won't paint

Thanks for the suggestion. I did the update on the Axiom+ that was available. There was no software update available for the Radome. It went fine and everything fired up, but with the same result.

Quantum Radome Spins but won't paint

My 6 year old Raymarine Quantum Radome just suddenly quit working. It spins just fine, but there is no image painted on the MFD. The Axiom+ MFD appears to recognize it. I can toggle it on and off. I can set it to transmit. The Radar app comes up fine on the MFD and shows the center point...

    Hot instruments act up

Gang, On my Nordic Tug 32: My Fusion radio starts to sound very fuzzy and actually starts to hiss after it's been on for a few hours on a hot day. It is mounted in my overhead instrument pod and must get really hot. If I turn it off and let it rest, when it comes back on it sounds great...

Lithium House with AGM Start and Windlass

Thanks to all for steering me in the right direction. I am out of town until Weds, but will research and update system info for those trying to help me. One thing to say: This is my last boat and I have zero other vices, so I am prepared to spend a fair sum of money to get exactly what I...

Lithium House with AGM Start and Windlass

Hello All. I am adding solar to my Nordic Tug 32 and contemplating Lithium for the house bank. Everything is 12 volt. I am a neophyte at this. Right now -- I have three separate battery banks. A 440 AH AGM (four 6 volt batts series to parallel) house bank, a 4D AGM start battery and 220 AH...

    AC/DC outdoor cooler

I would like to add an AC/DC or maybe just a DC freezer and/or refrigerator to my sundeck and wonder if any of my trawler friends have had good or bad experiences doing this. Looking for all options before I open the wallet. I want something that could sit outdoors without self destructing...

    Hello from the PNW

Greetings. This is indeed a fine group. I lived in the PNW for a couple of years and made a career move back to So Cal. I miss PNW boating and continue to dream about bringing my NT32 up for a season or two. Tough decision - that's a big commute and I can't afford two boats. I love my NT32...

    New Salon Table build

It came out really great. You can be proud of it and it looks super functional in your salon. Nice!

    Moving up.

Congratulations. This boat has been a regular at Prisoners Harbor -- and I got a tour and a hang on board a year or so ago. Very impressive boat and beautifully kept. My wife and I were talking yesterday about the economics of it. The conversation stopped abruptly when I mentioned the cost...

    New Salon Table build

Table Build Questions I hate my wrestle in place table setup and have been gnashing my teeth at the cost and limits of what I've found pre-fab on the internet. You are definitely NOT a hack... I am going to brave up and attempt this also. The pedestal enclosure looks really great...

Please give me a digital survey!

Brian, Congrats on your purchase. I love your boat, and I mean literally. I have walked past it many times over the last 20+ years and always turn an admiring eye. My buddies and I have spent a lot of time at Santa Cruz Island and beyond over the years. I wouldn't hesitate to take this boat...

    Twisting flopper-stoppers ?

Our anchorages can be very rolly -- enough at times that it's difficult to work in the galley. I ran two of the Magma's until I also discovered the FlopStopper. OMG. That thing really works. My wife not only noticed the incredible difference, she ordered me to buy a second one. I have yet...

    Twisting flopper-stoppers ?

Magma Flopper Spinning Yes. There is a very simple trick that worked well for me. The Magma comes with a retrieval line that takes the pressure off when lifting it out of the water. Simply tie that line to a cleat or stanchion with just enough length to let the flopper work properly. That...

    Airmar 110WX vs 220WX

I had not heard of the LCJ.... Looks alike a good unit and is priced well. I had already ordered the AirMar 120WX and I am happy enough with it. It is plug-n-play with the ES128 using an N2K drop cable into a Raymarine SeatalkNG adapter cable - not afraid to strip wires, but no need and it's...

Latest VHF choices to replace old Icom M602?

I am sorry that I can not. I sold the old C120 MFD and radio.

Latest VHF choices to replace old Icom M602?

I hesitate to speak to this as a fact, but I am reasonably convinced that I could place a non-emergency DSC call to an AIS contact with my Raymarine C120 MFD talking to a Standard Horizon GX2200 AIS/GPS Radio conncected via NMEA0183. I would love to have somebody confirm that I did not imagine...

Latest VHF choices to replace old Icom M602?

I am embarrassed to update this post by saying that I was at my boat today and could NOT initiate a DSC call from my es128 MFD- Ray60. I will have to look into this. I can't figure out why I was so certain that I could do that. I am very confused. Sorry.....

Latest VHF choices to replace old Icom M602?

The eS128 does initiate DSC calls, but I have no idea if the DSC callilng feature will work with a "third party" VHF radio. I can tell you that you may initiate a call from the es128 with a Raymarine radio connected over Seatalkng, Ray's proprietary version of nmea2000. I have an eS128 with an...

    Airmar 110WX vs 220WX

Oops. In the clear dawn of a new morning with a cup of coffee in hand, I realize my system chart was incorrect. The Rudder position sensor hooks directly to the autopilot box. The "odd" cable into the Seatalkng network must be from the Fusion RA70 stereo. David

    Airmar 110WX vs 220WX

This is very helpful. I have spent quite a few hours cleaning up the pile of loose wires and connectors inside my instrument panel box so that I could sort it all out and have it tied down and pretty. I have cobbed together some cut and paste symbols from the Raymarine Seatalkng reference...

    Airmar 110WX vs 220WX

Thank you to everybody that contributed to this thread. I have learned a lot, and I am proceeding with this project slowly. I'm off to help a buddy deliver his sailboat to San Diego and when I get back I should have more time to study and do. I think the 220WX is in the cards, with the...

    Airmar 110WX vs 220WX

I want a wind instrument on my tug. Not sure how bad I need it, but I want it. I'm looking at the Airmar and am not sure I understand the difference between the 110WX and 220WX models. I do want True wind speed. In my sailing days, I had a masthead unit that delivered wind speed to my (Ray...

    Nordic Tug 37 davit crane?

Another vote for the SeaWise system. I have a Nordic Tug 32 and love the Seawise. I have a 10' 2" Achilles RIB, with a 20 HP Yamaha, which is a bit too big for the boat, but I make it work because I drop a hook and fish the local Channel Islands. I can get to more remote fishing spots quickly...

Hopeful to be sea of Cortez expat

Do not be intimidated. It's all doable and you will love that you took the plunge. I have a buddy that did the Baja Ha Ha and he fell in love with the cruising lifestyle and the people of Mexico and the Cruiser network.

New (sort of) Nordic Tug Owner in So Cal

I can't think of any reason that it wouldn't work. 5200 is amazing. Cosmetics might be an issue, and tooling up would be relatively expensive.
