    Shower drain plumbing thoughts

If it's helpful, here is a picture of my setup before and after installing a Gulper pump & sump. The Whale sump is a little larger so I added a larger starboard base.

    Shower drain plumbing thoughts

The smallest Whale (Gulper) sump has up to 8 inlet points. It holds just 2.2 gallons and has an integrated solid state switch.

    Shower drain plumbing thoughts

I replaced my Rule sump system with a Whale sump and pump system and it works great. Because the showers drain into the sump, not into the inlet of the pump, it is surprisingly quiet. This sump has an integrated, solid state sensor with no moving parts for automatically operating the pump. The...

    Underwater exhaust

At lower displacement speeds I believe it will exhaust above the water line through other ports. Ours also has underwater exhaust but doesn't come into play until well into the planing speed range. Until that, the exhaust is through the above water ports.

Been out of it (boating) for a little bit, but getting back in this summer. Trying to

We purchased our 11 year old boat last year knowing we would need to upgrade all of the limited electronics and add several components (radar, autopilot, AIS) that it didn't have to the upper and lower helms. I had recent experience with Simrad that was not good so didn't want to do that again...

    RW pump for A/C units

My salon AC is the largest unit and also the closest to the pump. With all the valves wide open, it has significantly more flow than the other three. The forward stateroom unit is the smallest and furthest run and also noticeably less water flow. I once tried to throttle back the salon flow...

    RW pump for A/C units

I thought this was too big a difference too. So I went back and looked up the pump specs again and it is actually rated for 900 GPH. Still a fair amount of loss. I run into a header that splits the flow to the four units. This includes valves but they are all wide open at all times.

    RW pump for A/C units

What kind gauges are you using to measure pressure/flow? I'm curious to hear what you are or will be getting for actual flow. We have 4 AC units and recently installed a flow meter on the single main centrifugal pump that is rated for 1500 GPH. I'm actually getting right at 500 GPH total actual...

    Poo-Poo on Garmin!

This is not much help for your current situation, but FYI, I had two 12" Simrad touchscreens delaminate after about two years of use. They replaced them with new units at no cost which was nice but it was an unexpected hassle. Went all Raymarine on my latest install.

    ElectroSea ClearLine system???

Installed and functioning. Won't really know how well it works until the water warms up but it seems to be a nice system.

    First dinghy question

Thanks for all the replies. We finally got all the pieces of our new dinghy system. We went with a 10' AB fiberglass RIB and a 15hp Tohatsu. For a davit we went with the SeaWise system. They were great to work with! Now we'll spend the next few weeks getting it all installed. Thanks again for...

    3D print a thruster prop?

Didn't loose interest, just evaluating alternatives. Your responses have been extremely helpful!! Many said it probably wasn't ABS and that's correct. It's some sort of fiberglass reinforced composite. I thought I just sheared a drive pin but when the diver went to remove it there was no prop...

    ElectroSea ClearLine system???

No replies so I'm guessing they're not well known. I going to go ahead with installing a system in a couple of weeks so I'll find out how well it works when the water warms up in the spring.

    3D print a thruster prop?

Our bow thruster sucked in a piece of wood and sheared a pin at the prop. :nonono: Since the prop is made of ABS plastic I suspect it may be damaged as well where the pin is connected. This prop is no longer made and I have literally searched the world for a replacement and there are none. It's...

    Bulkhead wash down fitting

I have two of these on the bow for anchor wash down (fresh and salt) and another freshwater one in the cockpit. Use coil hoses on all of them and they work pretty well. https://www.freshwatersystems.com/products/seatech-st301-speed-tap-housing-white-with-msp101-hose-adaptor

    Florida Bareboat Trawler Rental

We chartered a 40' Mainship from SWF Yachts two years ago and it was a great experience. Great area (Ft. Myers/Cape Coral) and well run business.

2020 Cruising, Where are you going?

Making our first long trip in 2020 departing Southport, NC late April heading to Boston where we'll stay for a few weeks. Looks to be right at 1,000 statute miles. Planning to be back in Southport mid July.

    Thruster constant power drain question

Thanks for the replies. Very little wear on the thruster anode. I don't think it's leakage as I measure exactly the same ma on the negative side of the battery. I will try disconnecting a motor lead to see if it makes a difference.

    Thruster constant power drain question

I changed out our 24V thruster charger this week and when I was hooking everything up I noticed that there's a constant 20ma power drain on the batteries. The battery bank hooked solely to the Volvo QL Thruster Control Module so is isolated from all of the other battery and charging systems on...

    ElectroSea ClearLine system???

I attended the Fort Lauderdale Boat show back in November and ran into a company I hadn't heard of before. ElectroSea. https://www.electrosea.com They were showing a system they call CLEARLINE that is designed to prevent marine growth in marine AC systems. They appear to be a very new company...

    42 Azimut - italian build.

The 2 stateroom version of the Navigator 4800 has a nice combination of features. It was our favorite layout but we wanted to stay under 50' OAL. Most of the later (post 2004) 4800's had 3 staterooms which I think made it less comfortable for two couples.

    42 Azimut - italian build.

We bought our 2008 Navigator 4600 1 year ago. ER is very (relatively) spacious and we love the layout. I actually like the Volvo engines but mine have the digital controls and data so this helps!

    Fly Bridge Table replacements

We put a table on our flybridge last year that we love. It is a Lagun Table mount https://www.rv-table-mount.com We didn't want to mount into the flybridge floor and also wanted something that wasn't totally fixed. This thing pivots at two different points and we mounted the table off center so...
