Scuba diving/snorkling, who here does it? Need advice.

Not to sound rude, Don't even think about using a standard air compressor. Bad idea. Greg

Don't force diving!!!! A diver should be calm and relaxed at all times. Little problems get big if you don't stay calm.

    Bottom Paint

My boat is on the hard in NJ, how long between stripping bottom paint and barrier coating? Will a few months of winter allow the hull to dry? No blisters just too many coats of paint. Greg

    Camano 31 Reality Check

We loved the 32 + 2 but couldn't find one that was acceptable. The 30 Pilot is a nice starter for us. I could see going to a larger 34 Mainship Pilot. The Nordic Tugs were out of our price range but if we really get into cruising in retirement it would be on the top of the list.

    Camano 31 Reality Check

We keep looking at the Camino 31 but the Small berth and small aft deck turned us off. We ended with a 30 Pilot and loved our 1st season. We dive and fish. My two cents.

Docking a GB 32 Single Handed

I was new to a single engine, this video really helped. I have a bow thruster but try not to use--nice when the wind or current is fighting you. Greg

By product of combustion is H2O, that is why jets leave a trail.

    anti fog solutions for windows?

I bought a 12 volt defroster at Advanced Auto. It works pretty good to clear a single window pane. Enough to get underway.

    Soda blasting - How much?

I am paying 50 $/ft at Manasquan River Club, NJ. If I had the boat at home in PA someone could do it at my house for 35 $/ft.

Prop size for 1999 Mainship Pilot 30

I have a bolt on bearing housing. I wonder if we could make clamp pieces that could be removed if the bearing housing would need to be removed. Maybe extend the bolts. If the faring piece is no good just not use it. I might try to develop something this winter. Greg Mayrose

Prop size for 1999 Mainship Pilot 30

When I purchased our 98 Pilot 30 with a rumble. The blades where bent about 1/4". I had my prop balanced and blades straitened. No change in the rumble. Ours has a shaft extension. Mounts seem solid. Next step check the shaft alignment. It would be interesting to ride on someone's boat...

    Intro

Welcome, What boats do you have in mind? We learned a lot while boat shopping. Some of the seller's offered great insight. It was nice to check out many different styles and sizes of boats. Seeing the boats first hand was far more valuable than staring at a computer screen. Look us up if...

Pilot 30 - what do you use for screens for the companionway?

We have a screen on our pilot 30 that works wonderfully. The screen is wider than the opening with wood bars spaced about every 24". The ends of the bars are rabbeted. Stows away neatly while attached forward of the opening. This weekend I could get a picture. Greg

    Coolant temperature Sender 100-220 F

Replaced the Temp Sender with: 3/8" TEMP SENDER FARIA 90403 450 ohms at 100 F'', maybe 37 ohms at 220F. Worked, now we can cruise.

    Coolant temperature Sender 100-220 F

My temp gauge goes from 185F to 220 is a few seconds. I have added a thermocouple and that gauge doesn't do the same jump. I figure the sender is shorting out--thus the 220F max scale. I have a 1998 Yanmar 4LH with a VDO set of gauges. "They don't make the 220F sender any more, use a TU201...
