    Converting 120v/60hz to 240v/50hz

Thanks Twist Tree and others, I think that I have misinterpreted the capabilities of the Mastervolt Mass GI! In the past I have been led to believe that 120v/60Hz appliances brought in to NZ by immigrants from North America had no long term transformer option. This, it seems, still applies...

    Converting 120v/60hz to 240v/50hz

I believe 16 and 32amp shore supply is correct. Of course all our chargers for Kindle, iphone, Macbook etc would just work with the conversion plugs we have used when in North America.

    Converting 120v/60hz to 240v/50hz

Thanks for all the info. The "split phase" issue is beyond my limited electrical knowledge unfortunately. Maybe a local marine electrician or electrician with US experience would know. Our 230/240v 50Hz appliances mostly come with 3 pin plugs (Phase, Neutral and earth) but some small appliances...

    Converting 120v/60hz to 240v/50hz

Thanks for that. Have just checked out on Mastervolt website and it seems the Mastervolt Mass GI 3.5 transformer would solve all the issues. If this transformer lives up to specs the boat would then be left "as is" and operated as if in USA as the basic issue is really just shore contact. As...

    Converting 120v/60hz to 240v/50hz

Having looked at several historic threads regarding conversion of European Voltage/Hz to US I may have a very small amount of knowledge?! All part of the learning process before committing to the purchase and import of an American trawler. We would need to do the reverse and convert to...

Hi BruceK, I have looked at available boats in Australia. We are looking at importing, The issue is that Australia also has very few of the type of boat that we are looking for. According to the international shippers we have consulted, the shipping cost from Australia is not a lot less than...

I know exactly where you're coming from re the cap. The small amount of cushioning provided is more than negated by the vertical blinding effect of the peak! The reason for keeping an open mind about the tug brand is that we know a final decision between Nordic and American (and individual...

Having had several altercations with English pub beams and doorways I was hoping to avoid that with my own boat/residence!

Thanks alot for your trouble. Just what we needed to know. That makes the AT-34 better (headroom wise) as the NT-32 is 6ft 4ins in the saloon which, at 1" clearance, may be marginal.

The negative for us is the "40'ish". These boats are usually wooden with the associated maintenance penalty. We may have the largest number of boats per capita but try finding anything in NZ with the keyword "trawler". The word trawler is associated with commercial fishing vessels. We are...

Hi all, After learning much from spending time on this forum I decided that it was vital to join as part of the small trawler purchase learning process. I have been unable to find a relevant thread so here goes! We are really looking forward (in the Southern Hemisphere Spring/Summer) to buying...
