    Bigger is better, wrong mindset

FF As always you nailled the issue. I am also sure that it is not a question of size, it is a question of simplicity. Maybe, sorry for insisting, my theory about "marine grade" appliances make more sense when you're liveaboard because then, everything gets simpler. In the end, it is not the size...

    Bigger is better, wrong mindset

Excellent post. There is other issue that has been strongly discussed within weekend boaters down below the Equator. How much better "marine grade" appliances are than the domestic ones? Marine 12000 BTU AC cost us $2.5K after installation. With that money, I can by 5 split units with 90% of...

Hi Phill Yes I am the hairless one! The boat, as you'll see tomorrow on other pictures not yet in my hands, will be red wine hull (burgundy, as the admiral calls it!), and light beige in the housing. The interior varnish will be finished with "cut gloss". Polish paste #1 and 2 without using...

...perfect picture from the shipyard front yard. The rain has started. The Admiral and I spent 5 days varnishing some parts to acquire the feeling and the technique. We came to the conclusion that varnishing is all about simplicity and patience. By the way, the varnish is Sherwin Williams...

    west systems fillers

As Mike said above, hard will be. There's no way water will disturb the wood powder inside of the fillings if it is pre-mixed before application. Yet, if you still want to go alternative, try industrial talc powder. Rgs Portuguese

    Crazy Boat Names

...In my future pier is a 55' wooden trawler displacing 92400 lbs with a 132 continues hp at 2500 rpm engine. The owner claims the boat does 9 knots full speed. In any case, we never saw him doing that speed and the boat was named SLOW MOTION by the owner.

    Cooking Aboard

Don It's amazing how any fish cooked that way tastes so good. Put that butter & wine to work and if you can, add a leaf or two of dill, and you'll have a gourmet dish inside of a foil pocket in the grill. It is quick, healthy and if other people don't see the foil, they will guess forever how...

    I tried.

Conrad Are you sure that your pictures are not High Resolution ones. - millions of pixels per square millimeter. If so, one single picture will overload the file. If so, the problem is not the interface between the chair and the keyboard. Is just that you have a damn good camera!

    Cooking Aboard

Cooking is not only an art is also the only way that we have to choose clearly what to eat. We are what we eat. Please do not try to convince me that package food is healthy. Microwave oven heated or cooked food is totally molecularly disturbed and chemically unbalanced. Putting quantities in...

    Building Rainha Jannota in Brazil

My boat will go to the water in August - October 2013. As we speak the electrical installation such as Inverters, cabling, AC/DC peripherals, all that is ongoing with pluming. The engine room is complete and it is being painted now. Engine, transmission, genset, all hydraulic systems, steering...

    Single vs Twin: It's Baaaaack!

Jorge Welcome! One question: In 30 years of sailing, how many events of damage engines did you have and why? Now, having in mind that you were concentrated on sailing with the wind, now that you will be concentrated in an engine and therefore you'll be giving it a lot of TLC, how many...
