    Diesel engine warm-up?

Good grief.....no offense.....but someone's going to be offend.....so sorry in advance. If I didn't know better you'd think the internal combustion engine was in its infancy. Start the thing up and go, when you get back to the dock turn it off, rinse and repeat LOL. Don't forget to unplug the...

    firearms?

It's highly probable, chipmunks have also been known to form loose temporary gangs that can cause campsite chaos. It's a scary world out there, hence you know the whole gun thing.

    firearms?

I do a little hiking and camping almost always alone. I almost always open carry. Here's my list of most dangerous things while hiking/camping 1)myself 2)the drive to the trail head 3)weather 4)other people 5)meteor strike 6)Bigfoot 7)catastrophic tectonic plate movement 8)renegade squirrel...

    firearms?

If your going to get a shotgun get a semi-auto, unless your very experienced with pump action. I've seen many "experienced" hunters miss a second shot with an incomplete cycle or racking of the next shell. It's embarrassing when bird hunting, could be deadly under different circumstances.

    trawler vs powercat

I'm in the same boat....sorry couldn't resist....but I haven't gotten past steel vs fiberglass. It seems from the few other discussions on this fourm, that there are some unique motions (hobby horsing, air/water being expelled between hulls, ect) that are "undesirable". But when I see a hull...

    Nordhavn salvage

Hmmmm....can't say I've done much big water passage making, but every time I've hit something it's been within sight of shoreline. It's what's driving my line of inquiry and decision making in my boat purchase. It would seem that the probability of hitting something, is much more likely costal...

If this had been a steel boat would it have sank?

Other than weather, why have a lower helm?

Very interesting discussion, it may be awhile before I have my boat built. But I'm of the opinion at this point that it's highly unlikely I'll want a flying bridge. Now bear in mind, my boat will not be over 50', unless of course I win the lottery. I see that area as a place to store the...

    ideal ocean crossing trawler yacht

I'm new to all of this but this whole stabilization issue is confounding. Please feel free to direct me to the "Stabilization for Dummies" section. But if it's that big a deal why are the vessels not designed to mitigate the use of stabilization too begin with? Why would you not want...

Launch Scrubbed - Another Ship in Range

I saw that live...it was the most wonderfully horrible thing I've ever seen. I can tell you this the amount of air traffic prior to the launch is quite a liitle air show to behold....multiple AWACS, Helos, ect all in an effort to prevent a scrub. The interesting thing was after the explosion...

Upgrades for Going Coastal - Beneteau Swift Trawler 44

Kinda where I'm comin from as an outsider....the only comparision I can make is a new home. Some of this stuff would be akin to lets say.... Upgrades for Going Coastal - Beneteau Swift Trawler 44

CeeBee, Thx so much for your respone and original post....as others have said, and as a newbie, your post is exactly what I'm looking for from this forum. That all makes sense about the price point, marketing perspective. My boat will hopefully be my last home, so I'm obviously struggling with...

Upgrades for Going Coastal - Beneteau Swift Trawler 44

Cee-Bee and others if you'd like to chime in.....the ST line had made my short list of boats I kept coming back to...but maybe I need to reconsider. My research is limited to the Internet at this point, since I'm at least 5yrs away from purchase. But I'm a little taken aback by some of the...
