    Interesting boats

A rather untypical Dutch steel cruiser of the "Kotter"-type: Very heavy, deep and low, just lovely:D It had a nice Deutz 4-banger diesel, 80hp at 2300rpm.

    Atlantic Passage 40' Dutch Steel

Quite a journey for a 40' Dutch steel cruiser and it's crew! I start to wonder about the seakeeping qualities of a "Vlet" compared to a "Kotter" type cruiser. Thanks for sharing the link.

Can't read the name - „Spirit of Diogenes”?

    Interesting boats

Some "real" or better "working" trawlers, captured in Denmark: most trawlers here are set-up asymmetrically - starboard to work, port side sheltered I think this one is a "woody" and just metal-plated. Not a "trawler", some kind of a former island-support-vessel I assume: Reminds me of the...

    Interesting boats

Larry, great job in Photoshop! The blue building with it's ship-like top is the regional traffic-control-center. Have you tried to mount it onto your Manatee digitally? :D Ron, the VW van on the pontoon is a nice catch.

    Willy ..... Launched

A really nice boat; sadly there are no Willard's (to my knowledge) cruising the Baltic Sea. How old or young is Willy?

    Building a S/D 34' trawler in steel?

Peter, I'm sure the EU-officials don't test-drive a boat like the Donky 34 in 4 meters high waves and 8 Beaufort and decide afterwards if it will fit in category B "Offshore" or better in category C "Inshore" ;-) We've had some really exciting storm-rides in the Donky 30 and the large...

    Interesting boats

A little fleet of moored, Dutch-built steel-cruisers: This boat-type is called "Kotters" in the Netherlands.

    Interesting boats

Sorry, don't know nothing about the cruise-speed, if called for service it will probably go WOT. WOT-speed is reported to be about 17/18 knots. The boat was built in the 1980-years behind the "Iron Curtain" in the former East-Germany. The engines ("12 KVD 21 AL 4" - 1225HP at 1500 rpm, V12...

    Interesting boats

A local triple-engined boat for those who are interested: 3 identical VPP's (sorry, fisheye-lens-distortion), driven by V12 1225HP-engines: bow view: sorry, fisheye-lens again I'm new here, hope inline-pictures are okay.

    Building a S/D 34' trawler in steel?

Hi Peter, just in case steel isn't ruled out yet: I've spent some time on a Pedro Donky 30. These boats were built for higher than classical full-displacement speeds (look at the flat aft section). The weight is on the low side for a steel-boat of this size and the overall profile is rather low...
