Same here: if you can find that name, I will be grateful.

    New Prairie Owner

I am afraid that ideal dinghy is going to be one of my designs built in foam sandwich. I am certain I can build a 9 to 10' one and get below 65: Divynicell, epoxy, biax but I don't want to build another boat. I may go for an inflatable. In the mean time, I tow a small boat.

    New Prairie Owner

SailorMike, good to see you here. Your blog, the youtube videos of Mischief and a visit to Sortie's boat is why we decided on the Prairie 29. Thank you all. I looked at your web site but did not see anything about the dinghy. Is that a West Marine Watertender? On Weaver hinges? Right now, I tow...

Mine is #4, I think. That is from the HIN.

    New Prairie Owner

The Prairie 29 has a very short waterline and such an open passage must have been hard. I sailed all over the place, several Atlantic crossings but I reserve my little Prairie 29 for protected or semi-protected waters. Those passages are not impossible, I was on a Prairie 29 that went back and...

    Okeechobee Rim Route

I crossed Florida a few months ago, it was windy and for the 1st time, I took the rim route thinking it was going to be a smoother ride. It was for a while but you still have to be in "open waters" for about 5 miles, no big difference. The other times I crossed very early morning, waves don't...

On mine, the number is on the brass plaque but also on a sole beam in the engine compartment.

    TF Southeast Florida Gathering?

Oh yes, I was wondering about that. I am only 6 miles away (halfway between Vero and Ft Pierce), will get a slip for a night at the marina but when? If there is a night with a BBQ or just meeting somewhere, I want to be there that day. And tell us what to bring for the BBQ. Shrimp? Ribs?

    TF Southeast Florida Gathering?

The closest airport is Melbourne, small and easy. After that MCO and PBI are equidistant.

    Dauntless Crosses the Atlantic Again

I would say Guadeloupe, Pointe a Pitre. Easy navigation even in bad weather. Marina Pointe du Bout is large, easy dockage, fuel and all services he may want. It is not much further than Barbados from his current position.

    shaft coupling removal 43 mainship

You separate the shaft coupling from the transmission coupling by removing the bolts. Then you put something like a socket (about shaft diameter) between the couplings, put the bolts back and tighten. The shaft coupling should move.

    TF Southeast Florida Gathering?

Since I am only 6 NM from Ft Pierce, I will probably be there with my "new to me" Prairie 29.

    Dauntless Crosses the Atlantic Again

This is crazy! :-) I made that crossing a few times but now, everyday, I check his progress as if I was there. I would love knowing what his daily fuel situation is, that is what I worry about.

    Interesting boats

Yes, that Turkish yard was producing my designs without paying the royalties, more a legal problem than a "political" one.. I designed a lengthened version for them. I am also working on a version with a longer pilothouse, shorter cockpit, galley upstairs.

    Interesting boats

I second the idea of the Mini-Troll by JP Brouns. JP is a great designer and his boats are well engineered, META is a reputable yard. JP is also a friend. BTW, I am the designer of the TW28 and I would not compare her to a production fiberglass boat plus, epoxy is much nicer to work with than...

Query on 2 Prairie 29s for sale

Just saw the post by Baker, I agree 100%. I have the 4236 and that was a major factor in my choice. It is a great, reliable engine. I cruise at about 6.5 knots and burn less than 1gph. My first calculations show 0.75 gph with some generator time included. Another good engine would be a Cummins...

Query on 2 Prairie 29s for sale

It's difficult to compare. My sailboat was 40' but very roomy. The Prairie 29 living space will feel much larger than the Hunter 33 and I am certain that there is more storage space. It is a much smaller boat than a Marine Trader 40. The fwd cabin is much larger than many 40' trawler and the...

Query on 2 Prairie 29s for sale

I don't live aboard (I lived aboard a sailboat for 7 years). This little 29 footer is the biggest small boat I have seen. There is storage room and room to move around. I stayed aboard for about 3 weeks when bringing the boat back from the west coast, most of the trip with my wife and it was...

Query on 2 Prairie 29s for sale

The 29 is large enough for a couple: we don't need the second cabin. The only reason to pick a 36 would have been engine room size. It is very tight in the 29. This makes maintenance difficult.

Query on 2 Prairie 29s for sale

Yes. I bought one 3 months and looked at several but I don't have any links anymore: there is one in Madeira Beach, then the one with the big AC in the cockpit, I think in Sarasota. One of the dockmaster at the Fort Myers municipal marina has one. All those have the Perkins 4154. Then, there are...

    Prairie in green cove springs

That's the one with the cracked bowsprit. I thought of it then compared to a Prairie 36 in the same area that sells for 40K but in great condition. With the cost of repairs, the more expensive one was a much better deal. I still have the broker's emails: message me. In the end, I bought a 29 in...
